Mom Allegedly Threatens Little League Official Because Her Son Didn't Make the Team {ParentDish}

Jun 21st 2011 3:10PM Kids' sports are so political these days. It happens all the time---good kids get cut because they didn't know the right people. HOWEVER, it's better to teach your kids that life isn't always fair. And anyway, sometimes when one door closes, an even better door opens! (Sounds cliche', but we've lived that life and my son came out the better, happier person because of it. He now says he wouldn't have changed a thing to get where he is today.

Women Rank a Man's Scent as Most Important in Choosing a Sex Partner {MyDaily}

Jan 23rd 2011 9:34PM When will men figure it out? The biggest turn-on is a man doing anything to help around the house! Clean laundry? Sure! If my husband washed it (never happens.) Even the smell of dish soap could be a turn on if my husband washed the dishes! lol

McDonald's Sued Over Happy Meal Toys {WalletPop}

Dec 15th 2010 7:08PM A little advice from a mom of 4.....if you can't say no to your children when they're 2 and 6, you're in for a BIG surprise when they're teenagers! PLEASE throw this frivolous lawsuit out and tell this "mom" to put on her big girl panties and start acting like a parent!

Will Charlie Sheen Ever Clean Up His Act? {PopEater}

Oct 30th 2010 12:24PM Agreed. The poll question above says "can" he clean up his act. Of course he "can!" But it should have said "will" he do it? As you stated, there's no incentive....no consequences.

Are Parents of Obese Kids Abusive? {ParentDish}

Aug 25th 2010 5:45PM So some of you think the parents have a right to "parent" their children any way they want? What about the rights of the children? Don't they have a right to be raised properly? Don't they have a right to be healthy---to be educated? This is an EXTREME situation! The government isn't going to take your children if you're doing your job. The kids RIGHTS trump the parents rights in a situation like this! IF WE AREN'T GOING TO STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR CHILDREN LIKE THIS, THEN WHO IS!?

'I Bad-mouthed My Mother-in-Law on a Blog -- Then She Found Out' {Lemondrop}

Aug 2nd 2010 11:06PM Here's what I find ironic. So many of you are condemning Catherine for blogging saying that if she didn't want her story repeated she should have written it in a diary. Well, doesn't that apply equally to the vicious remarks that the MIL made? If she didnt' want them repeated SHE shouldn't have said them in the first place. The in-laws don't seem to be denying anything that Catherine wrote. They're just angry because the world knows what an evil woman their mother is.

I'm Raising My Grandkids And They're Out of Control! {ParentDish}

Apr 25th 2010 7:39PM First, don't make threats you're not able/willing to follow through with. ie: if you don't behave we're not going on vacation tomorrow. Honestly, you're not cancelling a vacation that you've already paid for and they know it. How about, "if you don't behave you'll spend the first day of vacation doing whatever mom and dad want to do and you will not complain about it or you'll spend the next day doing the same." But the most important thing is, FOLLOW THROUGH!

Second, don't EVER EVER EVER give them their way when they've whined, screamed, cried, etc. As soon as they learn that that behavior gets them what they want, it will continue. Just walk away and ignore them. You have to start this when they're VERY young. Let them know that TANTRUMS NEVER WORK! My 4 kids knew that, and now, as teenagers, they respect what I say. They don't always like it, but they respect it. (And we actually get along very well!) I've told my kindergarten students the same thing--the ones who obviously get what they want at home by having tantrums. And they learn very quickly that they might as well give it up because they get NO reaction from me with a tantrum.

I think the most important things to remember are "consequences" and "consistency." It's really not that difficult. Just be the grown up!

Baby Formula is Not Rat Poison {ParentDish}

Apr 17th 2010 6:49PM Shouldn't we all, as mothers, be supporting each other instead of bashing each other? Every situation is different, and every mother makes the decision to breast or bottle feed for her own personal reasons. The name-calling and belittling on here are appalling. I hope those of you acting this way don't have children. You are not ready to be a role model to a child.

Bride Sues Over Racy Photos Posted Online {Lemondrop}

Nov 18th 2009 3:51PM Do people READ anymore before posting stupid comments? First of all, the photo shown is obviously NOT the photo in question. It's a runway shot. Look at the details before you bash the bride for dressing "like a skank." Second, for the person who posted "why would she undress in front of 'him'?"---The photographer being sued is named CAROLYN! I don't know too many males named Carolyn!
