SmackDown: Should Parents Give Gifts to Adult Children? {ParentDish}
Dec 5th 2010 12:06PM At some point as an adult we NEED to be giving to our parents because we have the earning power and they are on a fixed limited income retirement. It is selfish and greedy to want gifts from parents who do not have the means to give them. What if the gift your parents gave you meant they went without meals or medical care? That is what it is really like in life. Grow up and give back to your parents.

Oct 8th 2010 4:53PM From what I've heard, Farve does not show up for practice at all and only shows up for the games. Kick him off the team. Fire him. Pay him off, anything but have to hear more about this premadonna past his time football player who has no respect for the game or his teammates if he doesn't show up for practice, team talks, or anything but the game. Heck, those commercials he is in, I wouldn't buy those products. If the jean commercial was made WITH his football teammates, that'd be the only time he associates with them from what I hear? But its not. I won't buy those jeans or those trucks...but maybe its OK for a football player to snub his team and thereby his used to be fans? If Farve has behaved in an unacceptable manner and continues to give his team a PR blackeye, boot him now. Let's get back to football! My hero is Fran Tarkington and those are boots Farve can't fill. I don't care how many years Farve played for another team. He is now too arrogant, in my opinion to play on any team. I wouldn't block for Farve either if he didn't show up for practice or any other team events except for games!

Oct 3rd 2010 11:46AM Sole. I wrote "sole" on purpose. Literary license. It was supposed to be "sole" because of the fishy stink of the baker's dozen loss in that last play of the game giving the Tennessee Volunteers the heartbreaking shock of losing a game they'd actually won due to the incompentency of the LSU team not spiking the ball to stop the clock and wasting their last fifteen seconds mindlessly substituting players! While American football fans watched in shock then to see the orange Tennessee Vols line up thirteen men on a yellow Tiger line! I wrote "sole" because I wanted to. Freedom of speech and besides, who made you the grammer and spelling KGB? So laughing! Hey, if the Tennessee Volunteers get to play a baker's dozen then I can sure as H E double L write "sole" iffin I want to :) LSU comes to The Swamp for their next game...whoa! Wonder who the bigger clowns will be? I'm sure the Vols will come in to do their version of The Chomp on my UF Gators...but I hope the real Gators will finally show up and play as a team with a new Center and a new offensive line coaching philosophy! Somethings gotta give somethings gotta give somethings gotta give...we in trouble now!

Oct 3rd 2010 11:34AM You are correct, my Gators haven't shown up yet this season. New theme song for the Gators: "Send In The Clowns...don't bother they're here." In my opinion, please: Coach Meyer is a good coach, but perhaps a coach who is faltering with too much Tebow baggage? One wonders if Meyer is dazed and confused, because in my opinion pulling Pouncey from Center is vital IF the UF Gators are going to become a team. Pouncey bungles the snaps consistently, misses his blocks. What does that do for the rest of the offensive line? It means they must babysit Pouncey through each game play. UF Gator quarterback Brantley never knows just where the ball will be snapped to next; however, low and to the left is most likely.

Oct 3rd 2010 11:21AM In my opinion, please: Coach Meyer is a good coach, but perhaps a coach who is faltering with too much Tebow baggage? One wonders if Meyer is dazed and confused, because in my opinion pulling Pouncey from Center is vital IF the UF Gators are going to become a team. UF Gator quarterback Brantley never knows just where the ball will be snapped to next; however, low and to the left is most likely. Rewarding Pouncey with the Center slot each week AFTER he bungles snap after snap in game after game shows favoritism, in my opinion. The entire offensive line can't pull together and dominate in a game if they have to babysit their Center through each play. Pouncey lost the game for the UF Gators, in my opinion, when the Gators in their first possession of the game got down to the goal line and Pouncey bungled the snap. You know its a HUGE issue when the sports commentators run file footage of this season's UF Gators games of one bad Pouncey snap after the other during the game yesterday. Yesterday's game was just plain pitiful and it could have been so much better had the UF Gators felt like they had a chance to really win...but get in a crunch situation and Pouncey flubs the snap...roll tape. Even though the UF Gators went into the Bama game undefeated, as an honest Gators fan, even I knew it was an optical delusion of grandeur...after all who did the Gators play? By the time the Gators got to Tuscalosa, they had four games of jitters over Pouncey under their belts to take with them to the Bama game. UF Gators: please fire the offensive coach and get another Center!

Oct 2nd 2010 11:04PM Any other player who made so many mistakes would be replaced. Pull Pouncey and the entire team will perk up. Pouncey is NOT a center. He throws the entire offensive line off. He can't snap the ball with enough consistency to inspire confidence. Pouncey misses his blocks. Please: Meyer, get real. Pouncey is GREAT at Guard and lousy at Center. Watch the Tide roll over the Gators. Why play Burton so many times in a row? Where is Heinz today? Why keep going up the middle? The dog pile on the rabbit plays don't work against the Crimson Tide. Brantley is a good quarterback...but Demps and Moody aren't making the yardage. This is a confusing team to watch...I keep waiting for the REAL Gators to take the field.

Oct 2nd 2010 8:08PM What a GREAT finish! To the tune of Tennessee Ernie Ford's "Sixteen Tons"..."You load 13 Vols and whaddya get? Another down over and nobody bet! LSU gets a sixer and I don't know...I owe my sole to the company store!" "St. Peter doncha call me cuz I can't GO! LSU beat Tennessee on a wing and a prayer!" OK, I didn't rhyme it just right...but thirteen orange Vols on a yellow Tiger line made Coach think the streets were paved pure gold in a Tennessee win! Pull that flag and count'em agin with the Ref, Coach! Fifteen seconds and thirteen Vols: a recipe for LSU Victory! Wow! THAT was a blast! Dum da dum da dum dum...Go Gators! Go Gators! Go Gators! Come on Gators Get Up And Go!

Oct 2nd 2010 8:20AM Young men at college are not grown men. They are still adolescent young men who constantly need to be reminded of the rules, their responsibilities, and the importance of restraint. IF you sign on to play football for a college team THEN you have a responsibility of loyalty to your team. Don't muck it up for yourself and your team by living your life AS IF the rules are stupid and don't apply to you. A college coach is looking out for the best interest of his players individually and as a team. Rules are everywhere. There is nothing wrong with having and enforcing the rules. Old-fashioned values are what most Americans want and live by. If I get this right, most young men who head off to college are just out of mommy and daddy's home and they are influenced and distracted by many immoral choices. A college football coach who wishes for his players to live disciplined lives is a college football coach who is earning his salary. Discipline: its a good thing. I wholly support the coach and his rules. The team comes first, or get off the team.

Oct 2nd 2010 8:10AM I bet Coach Meyer of the UF Gators wishes that Rainey had used better judgement and avoided entanglement with women! If Rainey had used personal discipline, restraint, and behaved like a gentleman, he would be playing today! But hey, if a young man would rather choose probation and jail instead of curbing his tongue and temper, he doesn't belong on a college football team. Discipline and rules are more important than if a premadonna football player gets all his wishes. IF a football player behaves dishonorably, THEN he doesn't play football. Look at the Steelers...don't we all wish that Big Ben was a gentleman and behaved himself on and off the field? Who wants a football player on their team that gives the team a PR black eye? Discipline is vital, without it a coach is merely a babysitter. Follow the rules or you're off the team. Reward those who follow the rules and work hard. If you want excellence on a football team: don't reward bad behavior.
