I Spent $3,000 to Save My Dog - and I'd Do It Again {Pawnation OLD}

Jun 22nd 2010 10:11PM KRISTEN - please save your money - no more ear cropping. I love the new boxer look and that of many others -- it's just not natural!

Jun 22nd 2010 9:57PM Elynn - you may be #221 on this board - but you are my #1 kind of Mensch. There are so many of you and I am proud to be in your company. I was a very impressionable young woman who had spent a large amount of money for medical bills for my pets also all rescues and during a few years theirs were larger than mine), When a respected elder friend chided me for "throwing all that money down the vets' throat" I held on steadfast, surprising myself. It wasn't even worth defending. I do hope someone reads and learns from this.

Jun 22nd 2010 9:47PM This is an extremely emotional issue and, as I wrote before, it was not the money in my case. Regular surgery for corrective issues and so forth, would not be worth a second thought. Gingie, whom I mentioned earlier had chemo therapy; two of her three male siblings had "replumbing" surgery, successful ones, I am happy to add. That sort of decision was made in a second. I only want to say that I hope no one has to make that "call" - but if you do, only consider the welfare of your animal, not your fear of losing it.

Jun 22nd 2010 9:30PM I must add that my regular vet asked me to bring "Gingie" (Ginger Rogers, actually) in on Sunday afternoon - she was beyond help and had to be euthanized. I would have done anything, no expense spared, to save her life. She was only seven years old - I would not do it again with her 3 siblings who are still with me, plus their mother. It's a really tough decision and I know everyone will do the best they can, please just don't expose your beloved pet to unnecessary pain and agony.

I see her picture and I cry.

Jun 22nd 2010 9:19PM The money I spent to try to save my cat's life is not the issue - in retrospect understanding what she went through, I absolutely would not do it again. It's been 4 years and I still hear her screaming following chemo therapy. The vet oncologist said "thank you, if there are problems, call the Emergency Vet Hospital" over the weekend (her treatment was on a Friday). The Vet hospital was extremely hostile to my urgent questions -

The advice I want to give anyone who reads this - make very sure that the treating vet is available immediately for questions and possible follow-up visits.. I thought it was careless and thoughtless the way my cat was treated - never mind me. I wouldn't treat an enemy that way.

Very Mary Kate is Very, Very Funny {Urlesque}

Jan 25th 2010 4:39PM TropicLove! How dare you compare adorable raccoons to these two scarecrows. Bite your tongue.

But I really do feel sorry for them - obviously they've never had someone with good common sense guide them. Don't they have any decent relatives? What's with their mother?

Nancy Grace Lands Daytime Talk Show: Will She Fill the Oprah Void? {Inside TV Blog}

Dec 4th 2009 1:28AM OH, PULLLEEEEZZZZ! I just wrote to HLN to ask them to tell her to tone it down. She sounds like the National Enquirer's headlines look. I know, I know, I don't have to watch and listen but I am interested in some of the cases she discusses but I have given up, can't take all that dramatic staccato in her voice.

Nov 20th 2009 4:56PM My, my, look at all the merciless "most intelligent" of all the animals expressing their joy at eating animals with lesser intelligence. I guess Idi Amin wasn't so bad after all, huh? I guess he thought he was smarter than everybody -- can we then blame him for his favorite food of choice? Happy Thanksgiving and bon appetit, y'all.

Note To Chris Brown: Comeback From Scandal Is Possible {PopEater}

Sep 12th 2009 10:12PM Jomah5004: WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST THOSE POOR PENGUINS? THEY ARE WONDERFUL, FAMILY-ORIENTED ANIMALS WHO ARE TRYING TO SURVIVE IN SPITE OF THE WORST ELEMENTS --- THEY DON'T NEED THIS GUY ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE. HAVE SOME COMPASSION (FOR THE PENGUINS, OF COURSE)!
