I too,at 51 and sitting with my two young daughters,wept a little at Toy Story 3.I couldn't quite verbalize to myself why,but you just said it ; it wasn't that Andy had to give up his toys,but rather that his toys had to give up Andy.IT made me think about how my children are growing up and getting closer to be adults.IN fact my older daughter just turned TEN this past week and I bought her (because she desperatly wanted it) a big $50 Lotso-Huggin Bear.She adores it,BUT I suspect it will probably be the last time I EVER buy her a TOY for a birthday present.It made me sad to think that my little girl is moving more and more into the adult world.Next year she'll want an i-phone or a laptop (already wants these things...).anyhoo,nice article Chris!

Jun 17th 2010 10:48PM we used a binky with our first daughter.She was a junkie and we let her until she was around 7 years old.we kind of just did a cold turkey and she did a million times better than we thought she would.She's now 10 in a few weeks and has been fine since 07.Our 2nd daughter we did not let use a binky.She 6.5 and a thumb sucker.either way,they always outgrow it! how many ten year olds have you seen with a binky or sucking their thumb?!
