Housing Discrimination: Disability-Related Complaints Soar {AOL Real Estate}

May 12th 2012 1:04AM Wheelchair dings? Seriously, how much damage do you think we cause? We know how to steer those things! Grab bar holes can be spackled over, and damages that the tenant doesn't fix can legally be taken out of their deposit. Whenever I move into a place I ask my landlord for a can of the ubiquitous white paint upon move in that they use and keep it around to do just such repairs. Anything I install gets removed, painted, and spackled back over. Oh gosh, a few screw holes, grow up. Ramps can be made removable, and as a landlord you don't have to widen hallways. You only have to allow modifications to be made that can be restored/removed upon move out.

And you're a bigot by the way. I hope you end up in a chair yourself one day.

May 12th 2012 12:57AM Ryan, the laws are pretty clear if you would bother to educate yourself. Why do you assume that the land lord pays to put in a ramp? Housing laws clearly state that they are not responsible for installing a ramp, but they MUST allow a tenant to install one that can be removed upon move out without damage to the property. If the installation of the ramp damages the property, they are responsible for the damage. Again, the tenant pays for the ramp, and by law the landlord must allow them to install one. Landlords will turn a tenant away instead of letting them install a ramp. Do you see the problem now?

'Phantom Tumors': a Growing, Painful Epidemic in Children {AOL Health}

May 6th 2010 10:23AM Furthermore, olive oil comes from the OLIVES THEMSELVES! NOT THE LEAVES!

And you know what "process" they use to get the oil? They squish the freaking olive! When you are eating an olive, you are eating the oil. There is no crazy chemicaly altering process! To compare the process of making olive oil to that of MSG is like comparing cotton growing in a field to polyester!

May 6th 2010 10:17AM Ok, um, I think you have this fat thing wrong. If there's ANY urban legends out there about fats staying in the body, it's about animal fats. What I DO know is true is that animals of all sorts retain toxins in their fats. When you eat an animal, you are eating its stored toxins, and then accumulating them in your own body. THIS can cause problems.

Organic cold processed vegetable oils are necessary for your diet and will NOT bring toxins into your body if stored and prepared properly (don't overcook them). If you do eat animals or their products, the healthiest thing to do is source from animals that are treated right and fed organic vegetarian diets. The animal products that the majority of america eats are ridden with toxins. Buy local and fresh when you can, keep your animal product intake to a minimal level (as in not at all three meals!) and spend your money on quality, not quantity.

How Racist Are You? {BV Black Spin}

Nov 3rd 2009 11:31AM These studies are SO FLAWED. They present you first with the the part of the study that shows a racist thinking pattern, and asks you to become competent at recognizing it. Then they switch to a non racist thinking pattern, but because you've just practiced responding to the other one you hesitate, and it scores you based on that hesitation.
The hesitation has NOTHING to do with racism, but with cognitive patterning and recognition and response. You switch patterns halfway through the test and it throws you for a loop naturally. If the halves of the test were switched, it would give the opposite results.

THIS IS A FLAWED STUDY!!!!

Boy, 3, may face life with Bart Simpson tattoo {ParentDish}

Oct 5th 2008 5:55PM The only reason I've found (in over 15 years of professionally doing henna) not to give a 3 year old a henna tattoo (as long as it's REAL henna) is that it's a waste of money for the parents. A 3 year old usually can't even sit long enough to get it, let alone wait for it to dry and set. Real henna does not cause these horrible reactions. FAKE, "BLACK HENNA" does.

Oct 5th 2008 5:52PM Henna is so not damaging to hair. Maybe some of those fake "henna" hair dyes are, but not real henna. It's actually conditioning. Maybe we shouldn't be "stripping" our hair to begin with, I've seen that do more damage to hair than anything else.

Oct 5th 2008 2:17PM Actually, these incidences are NOTHING NEW. There has been a problem with "BLACK HENNA" on the market now for years, and yes, it can cause dangerous reactions and permanant scarring.
THIS IS DIFFERENT THEN REAL HENNA. It would be nice if the article would stress that. Real henna is safe to use even on children. I ran a sucessful henna business for years before a spinal problem forced me to retire. I couldn't even buy BLACK HENNA in my state if I wanted to because of the safety ban on it.
Never ever did I have a reaction to real henna, and I tattooed hundreds and hundreds of people over the years. Not one person had a problem. REAL henna is actually conditioning to skin and hair.
The media has to stop giving henna a bad name and educate customers to the difference. Governments should universally ban black henna as well and just get rid of this problem.

Plastic Surgery for Your Back Fat Is Here at Last {Lemondrop}

Sep 15th 2008 3:25PM To those who commented that these people should excercise/stop eating, etc. instead of surgery, or that these surgeries are only for people who have lost weight and have extra skin, go to hell.
I had a hell of an eating disorder in high school, and I still had back fat. I was anorexic AND setting track records WITH mono, and at 5'7" and 105, still had back fat.
I do not have a small frame, I am not a 5'7" who looks healthy at 120 let alone 105. My dr. told me to stay between 140 and 160 for my health. But that back fat will NEVER go away. I've found some excercise helps tone the area up a bit and improve posture, good bras help, but it's just bad. I would not have this surgery because there's already micro canule lipo for the problem. I'll go with that.
