NRA Convention: Love of Guns and Country Is Not Just a GOP Thing {Politics Daily}

May 20th 2010 5:16PM I am a LIBERAL, and proud of it. I was raised in a small town where though there was no crime, this was a while ago, obviously. I think a good, well made gun can be a thing of beauty, and when I shot expert in the Air Force from 1964-68, I was proud of the achievement and the ribbon and medal that went with it. I love target shooting. I once loved hunting, but you can easily get killed by those who have no idea how to handle a gun properly, which includes most gun owners. My father and the fathers of my friends came out of WWII, and taught us how to handle and shoot weapons of all kinds. I owned my first rifle at the age of 8 or 9. I once joined the NRA and have the Stetson Hat to prove it. But when my membership was up and it was time to renew, I wrote a nasty and mean letter to the NRA. Why? Had the NRA changed? God no, Moses himself said I will surrender my gun when you take it from my cold, dead hand. That might have been ok with me if the NRA didn't condone selling armor piercing bullets, which are otherwise known as Cop Killers. I wasn't ok with the sale of machine guns, submachine guns, AK-47s, dozens of other automatic weapons which are only useful for one thing, and that is Killing another human being. I can't condone selling kits that are made to change an otherwise fine rifle into a virtual submachine gun which is only good for killing. Oh, and the .50 caliber is another useful hunting gun. You should see them hunting the remaining parts of a boar, turkey, deer, or even a mountain lion after it was hit by a .50 caliber rifle. UMMMMM, I can smell the meat cooking while mama cooks it up for dinner. I also will remind those of you who already know, and inform those of you who don't have enough sense to follow it. Obama has never mentioned your right to own a gun, or to buy the ammunition for it. Look it up, or have the wife/cousin who can read look it up for you. I would love to join a group who loved guns, reasonably, sanely, and intelligently presented arguments for keeping their guns, but not those people killers you are for. I will hang on to the guns I own, and will buy more. I love to shoot on a firing range, or even in the woods I know where there are raised earth banks where I can shoot targets. But you guys are only thinking, if you read past the first few words, how much you hate me. Well, so be it. You will lose when the righ government is in place, and if you haven't already started the Revolution against a government about which the only thing you know is: The President is a Black Man! He can't be ok. That thinking deserves to lose!

'Law & Order' Officially Canceled {AOL TV}

May 20th 2010 1:04PM God, how can an audience watch the same old crap, and it is old, night after night and then lament it going away like this. L&O was great for the first 5 or so years, but comeon, they ran out of ideas after that. NBC is run by idiots. I will say I am glad to see a classy show like Saturday Night Lights is returning, now please leave it on the same night and time every week, without 6 months to a year breaks between episodes, every actor in every part is perfect. The critics like it. The people who don't always want to watch the same crap over and over, like Law and Order, and CSI, which is just getting to be abominable. No comedies, bring us new dramas with decent actors instead of the hacks you put on most new shows. I love it that Jimmie Smits is coming back, he has had too many good programs cutoff in 1 or 2 seasons without an ending, just leaving his fans hanging.

Oct 19th 2009 5:04PM First Conan should be on PBS in the old Mr. Rogers slot. Second, Jay has ruined even the successful bits he did on his late show. I have always watched Letterman as my first choice, unless it was a repeat, or there was a very special celebrity on Leno. I like Jay, and as a person, he is probably the nicest big name on tv, but I don't watch tv during his time slot to see a nice guy, but for entertainment. The whole show is L A M E. I agreed with Johnny Carson who thought Letterman should have taken his old show, sorry Jay.

In the latter case, it made sense and I understood it, in this case, I love the fact that, as Nixon (another idiot in Republican politics, once said [paraphrasing Nixon], "The press won't have Sarah Palin to kick around anymore". The only bad thing is it is a shame that she won't be the Republican candidate for President in 2012, because it would be such an easy decision to vote Democrat. The Republicans still have Rush though!! Good luck Mrs. Palin, hope you find work in a career field you are suited for, and that you may learn something about it, unlike you failed to learn anything worthwhile about politics, international relations, and anything to do with the good of the American people and their needs.
