People with eating disorders are deeply disturbed and two words on a t-shirt isn't going to have much effect on anorexics. It's a good message for overweight people but they won't be swayed by two words on a t-shirt either.

May 24th 2010 10:57AM I've had a lot of dogs of different breeds and mixes and only two actually liked swimming.....A cocker spaniel and a springer spaniel. They were excellent swimmers and water retreivers with only a 4-inch tail. I also manage to swim without a "rudder."

That whole "needing a rudder to swim" thing is just in your head.

May 24th 2010 10:44AM Comparing removing a tail, an ear flap or dew claws to having a limb amputated is way over the top. Dew claws can be ripped off of even the most sedentary house-bound dog, leading to an infection that could get into the bone and cause a REAL amputation so do it while the dog is 2 days old.

If a breed is supposed to have a shortened or no tail, just do it, for Pete's sake; the dog will never notice. A docked tail makes for a nice appearance in some breeds and lessens the chance of injury in a breed with a long skinny tail. Again, a broken tail could end up being amputated anyway and cause a lot more trauma to an older dog.

If you don't plan to show your dog, ear cropping should be optional. Again, I think it makes for a nicer appearance in some breeds. Dobermans are goofy looking without cropped ears.

Dogs couldn't care less about their appearance....they don't know they've been docked or cropped. Only people care. If you care about breed standards there's nothing wrong with a little alteration. If docking and cropping bother you then get a mutt or one of the many breeds that are all natural. It's a decision made by us dog owners that doesn't matter one bit to the dog.

Dew claw removal is a necessity, docking a tail doesn't keep a dog from expressing himself, ear cropping can be a hassle for dogs that have to wear splints for a while but in the course of a dog's life they're willing to do much more than that to please us.

Wish you weenies would stop making a big trauma out of simple cosmetic procedures. When done at the right age by a good vet, docking and cropping have no effect whatsoever on a dog.

But it won't come to that because Palin is helping to lead Conservatives to organize, campaign and eventually re-take the country. So spew your insults and attempts to silence those you feel are your inferiors. It just spurs people on.

Go Sarah! Although the media is intent on trying to make Sarah look bad with this and other silly stories, it keeps her in the headlines. It's really having the opposite effect of what their going for.

Besides, Sarah's smiling face is a pleasant change Obama's mug which seems to be everywhere.

I can't believe the arrogance of this president. He thinks he's a king and so do his blind supporters. Obama knows his power will be broken come November and he's forcing through his agendas and political paybacks as fast he can.
Hopefully, more and more people will wake up and see him for what he is; a communist. Then we can begin the process of fixing his failures before the U.S. becomes another Cuba or Venezuela.
