Is Weight Watchers Biased Against the Overweight? {AOL Jobs}

Aug 31st 2010 10:28PM WW's are a bunch of creeps. This young woman is a success story, especially since she has kept the weight off for 5 years. For all of us overweight folks, you know how tough that is.

Plus, she's very qualified. Plus, she's very attractive and seems like a really decent person - if it was me, I'd lawyer up and screw WW! Corporations have been sued for less than this...

She'll land on her feet and her life will be better than if WW had hired her...

She's a hero!

Their loss, her gain!

Oops! Maybe that's the wrong phrase to use?

How a Month on an Ayurvedic Diet Changed My Life {Lemondrop}

Aug 15th 2010 12:59AM Hey Mr. Cynical! Let me help you with the math. Let's see, about 18% of the world's population are Indian; over a billion people.

Ayurvedic medicine, as noted in the article, is the main modality used by this culture, and has been for 5,000 years.

5,000 years ago my northern european forbearers were living in caves, dressing in bear skins, and living a hard, filthy and dangerous life. All this while the Indians were developing one of the major world cultures in art, religion, music, and yes "Mr. Everybody Who Doesn't Agree With Me Is a Sucker", medicine.

Please explain to me how in the world you decided, based on thin air, that this ancient, complex, useful, and beautiful practice that addresses the whole person is somehow a carnival trick for losers.

Have you every tried it? No, I'll bet you haven't. You're too busy trying to puff yourself up to compensate for your lack of self-esteem.

So a billion people and 5,000 years means nothing to you. 'Cause, hey - you're nobody's fool, right tough guy?

Our so called American "civilization", which is falling apart after barely 400 years, is apparently so superior to other cultures that you dare not take an open minded look at new information.

I thought the article was good. Balanced. She tried it with an open mind. She overcame her fear. Some things worked for her; she kept them. The stuff that didn't suit her, she let go.

That process, of actually learning to be in the moment, and to learn and grow, was probably just as good, positive, and healthy for her as the actual medical practice.

Her attitude improved, and so her health did too.

But all that doesn't mean anything to you. You're all set. You have all the answers. You've got it all figured out.

Maybe you'd be more comfy with a bear skin, a club, and a cave?

And oh yeah, there was nothing anti-American in her story. You right wing-nuts could turn a cookie recipe into a terrorist threat, just as long as you could trash somebody in the process.

You make me sick! I think I'll try the sesame oil!

Fat vs. Obese: Which Is Worse? {That's Fit}

Aug 11th 2010 2:22PM The problem isn't the weight. The problem is people are too short for their weight.

If you weigh 200 pounds and you are 5 feet 10, you're not fat, you're just too short.

The same weight and you are 6 feet 4 - you're golden.

And who says Americans in are in denial about the issue?

Not this guy!

Best to All,

Shorty

Obama Reacts to What He Calls a 'Ridiculous Spectacle' {BloggingStocks}

Aug 4th 2010 7:24AM To those of you here who are critical of Mr. Obama, just let me point out that he inherited this mess from Dick Cheney and Halliburton.

Both the the Bush and Cheney families are oil families going back generations in Texas and Oklahoma. It would be naive of us to think that they don't want to offer their long time friends (in the oil biz) every advantage.

There is a big difference between finger pointing and calling somebody out, factually, on their responsibilities.

If conservative Americans actually demanded honesty from the Republican Party, rather than engage in the culture wars, then maybe we'd get some where.

I like a lot of other Americans are sick to death of right-wingers who will take every opportunity to "blame" Mr. Obama for something that is a direct result of the Bush/Cheney regime.

That's been the problem all along; and the problems continue to mount as we, as a people, bicker with each other over nonsense.

It's called re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

As much as I dislike the Chinese government, we should follow their lead. Remember when all that bad toothpaste was coming out of China? And all the stuff, like toys made from poison plastic?

The national director for product safety (in China) was found to be corrupt and to blame for turning a blind eye to the problem.

He was arrested, put on trial, convicted and then taken out and shot dead.

They put a new director in place. Now, boys and girls, do you think the new director is going to try any monkey business?

I don't think so.

Bottom line. Until environmental crimes like BP's are punished by the death penalty or serious jail time ( and I don't mean 18 months at the country club prison farm), then we will continue to destroy what's left of the planet.

Your choose:

BP CEO executed or life in prison for crimes against humanity/the environment
or
an entire eco-system and the lifes and livelyhoods of millions of gulf coast Americans.

I'm clear on my choice.

Are you?

10 Most Awesomely Bad Songs {AOL Radio Blog}

Aug 3rd 2010 8:12AM Sailing might have a high cheese factor, but:

1.) The melody is great.
2.) Nice David Crosby inspired finger picking guitar
3.) The thru-composed piano solo is really very good and radical for a pop song. What does thru-composed mean? It means that the section is not a repeat of a previous part of the song. It is new harmonic material, an individual set of themes that push the song forward, and make a new emotional statement before the song returns to familiar ground (usually the A section or a repeat of the first verse)

So sorry, Sailing isn't a bad song. It's actually a very sophisticated piece of music.

Now, as for Gary Wright - he's the bomb! YouTube the band Spooky Tooth and you will see Gary as a young British lad getting it on. Brilliant band. And when Spooky broke up, the bass player joined Humble Pie - surely one of rock's all time greats.

The Black Crows exist because of the Pie.

Another great song. And you should hear Joan Osborne's version - it'll make your teeth itch she is so hot....

What Not to Wear: 10 Job Interview Clothing Faux Pas {AOL Jobs}

Jul 14th 2010 4:21AM I completely agree. These oh so groovy scene kids want to "tat out" and be all jiggy and "down with it" and all that other ghetto nonsense, and then they want to (on the other hand) come to a great job and make good money?

Sorry, assholes - take your hip hop, baggy ass clothes, bone thru your nose, bitch slapping "lifestyle" and continue working your "security" job at the local dance club or whatever.

Is Your Workplace Toxic? {AOL Jobs}

Jul 14th 2010 4:11AM The best way to handle all this is to move to the woods, grow weed and learn how to cook crystal meth,

Then, armed to the teeth in your little off-grid compound, you can collect your wits and begin to work on your Kick the Bucket List.

Unlike the stupid movie, a real KTB list is literally that. It's a list of your enemies, ex-wives, girlfriends, school bullies who deserve to die.

Once you have written out the list, you can then enjoy your newfound freedom with some serious revenge hunting.

Try it! I mean, it really is fun.

Should Your Family Share a Bed? {ParentDish}

Jun 21st 2010 2:44PM More hippy nonsense from people who think Western civilization has to be undermined by adding practices from other cultures, where perhaps they make sense, to ours - where they don't.

It's all part of the kowtowing to children. You see it everywhere. Men are undermined by the Feminists. Woman, God bless 'em, get shit from everybody. And the kids? Now the kids rule the family.

And the kids never grow up. Their teachers aren't allowed to constructively criticize them or the kids are "made to feel bad".

Parents need to be allowed to still remain lovers, and friends so they can hold their marriage together.

Children need to begin to grow up and have their own sense of personal space.

Anything else is just gross. You want your kid sleeping in the same bed where you and your spouse do the Wild Thing?

Count me out.
