Home Ec: 4 Cleaning "Essentials" You Can Ditch for Good {DIY Life}

Aug 22nd 2010 7:32PM Well, all I can say is that when my cat pukes on the floor, I would much rather grab some paper towels than use a rag and then have to clean it out!

Review: 2011 Jaguar XJL {Autoblog}

Aug 19th 2010 3:36PM What is is with people who think they have the right to decide how OTHER people should spend their money? How do you know that someone who buys this car doesn't also provide an excellent education for their children and give lots of money to charity?

There is now way I can afford this car, but I'm not going to be an idiot and think that I have the moral right to criticize someone who can.

The fact is, many times people who criticize like this probably pay a higher percentage of their income for their cheaper car than someone who buys a car like this Jag.

Crawl back into your socialist, moralistic hole and quit reading articles about things that apparently offend your more highly developed sensibilities!!

Don't Play Ball With State of Arizona {Fanhouse - Kevin Blackistone}

May 1st 2010 6:21PM I live in Tucson, AZ and it is SO annoying when writers like this put their head in the sand and blindly repeat the lies about the new law without doing their due diligence.

The legislature approved clarification wording after the bill was signed into law to help idiots like this who apparently can't read or comprehend. Police CANNOT arbitrarily stop anyone they want and demand papers. It has to be in conjunction with another legal contact with the person when there is reasonable suspicion they are illegal. If you're pulled over for speeding and don't have a valid drivers license, that might be a clue and you can be asked for proof you're a legal resident.

Everyday, I am asked to prove who I am or be inconvenienced because of a small minority. If I write a check or use a credit card, I have to show my drivers license. If I go on a flight, I have to show my ID and I have to go through the security checkpoint. Only a very small minority of travelers want to hijack or blow up the plane, but I have to show up an hour early because of it. But, it's bad to look for illegal immigrants.

I don't blame them for wanting a better life, but there are legal ways to come here and if you don't follow them, then you're a criminal. Mexico certainly defends IT'S southern border.

A company in AZ had to fire 300 workers because they were illegal. In a week, all positions were filled with legal workers. So, are you seriously trying to say that legal workers hadn't had their jobs taken by illegals? Those who say the economy needs illegal workers are using the same arguments the south used to justify slavery. Slaves do work white people don't want to do. The economy needs slave labor because paying full wages for the work would result in skyrocketing prices. What you're saying is that we need to have people who are willing to be exploited to help our economy. Shame on you. If you implement a Guest Worker program, you remove the exploitation and therefore the advantage they have.

Boycotting AZ is stupid when you try and use the bogus line that we are racist (when you mean bigoted) because we passed an anti-ILLEGAL immigration law.

Do some research and stop buying into the lies you hear from people who don't know what they're talking about.

'You Don't Drink?' -- Why Refusing Alcohol Is Such a Big Social Taboo {Lemondrop}

Apr 16th 2010 7:19PM Umm... Phil... try reading Merle's comment again, and this time do so more slowly for enhanced comprehension. He did NOT say he makes that comment out of the blue to someone who is drinking when he is not. He did NOT say he makes that comment just because someone offers him a drink. He DID say he makes that comment when someone offers him a drink, he refuses it, and then that person questions it. Since the article spent a lot of time talking about how people question someone's refusal to drink as if there is something wrong with the person refusing, Merle is obviously talking about someone who questions his not drinking in a way that is judgmental.

You, little Phillip, are the one who most likely needs to "get a friggin' life" and are most likely an "idiot" who is one of the obnoxious people who make a big deal out of someone who doesn't want to drink when you are.

My father's side of the family was almost 100% alcoholics. My paternal Grandfather died when my father was 6 from alcoholism. Myriad aunts, uncles and other relations died young of alcohol related diseases or accidents. As a result, I have never had anything alcoholic to drink in my life as there seems to be a genetic predisposition to alcoholism in my family. Thus, when I am at a party or with friends in a bar, I turn down any offers of alcohol. I don't judge anyone who chooses to drink as long as they do it in a manner that is responsible, and like most people, I don't like the way many people behave when they are drunk. But, that doesn't mean you or anyone else has a right to treat me like a second class citizen because I don't. People may have many reasons why they don't want to drink at all or occasionally, but they shouldn't have to subjected to intrusive quizzing about their decision as it may be something that is painful to them or they don't wish to discuss.,

Kitchen Cleaning: 5 Musts & 5 Things to Put Off {Shelterpop}

Apr 3rd 2010 5:01PM Mia - I had a "friend" who would always snoop through things when she would come over. (Long story why we kept inviting her!). Anyway, once when we had people coming over with her being one, I used a strip of wood as a barrier and filled the bottom shelf of the medicine cabinet with a bunch of marbles. Sure enough, she went into the bathroom and a few minutes later we all heard a shriek and then the sound of marbles bouncing all over the bathroom! There was silence and then about five minutes later she slunk out of the bathroom with a very red face with everyone looking at her and snickering. She grabbed her coat, mumbled an excuse and left in a hurry. I don't think she ever snooped in our house again! :)

UC San Diego Students Condemned for Party Mocking Black History Month {Blackvoices Main}

Feb 19th 2010 3:24PM Exactly! Such a double standard. Black people in entertainment or regular life can make all sorts of comments about white people not having equal athletic ability, redneck comments, etc., promote "Black Miss America", "Black Chamber of Commerce", etc. and then turn around and have a hissy fit if they perceive anything as exclusionary as their own behavior.

I'm sorry Dr. Watkins, but if you're upset over a party that makes fun of the ghetto mentality of the black culture, you're attacking the wrong people. When a segment of your "culture" glorifies degradation of women, violence, drugs, hindering law enforcement, foul language, rejection of education, etc., they deserve to be laughed at and ridiculed.

I personally admire the segment of the black population who values education, hard work and accomplishment. One of my favorite people is Dr. Thomas Sowell. I love Walter Williams. I have no respect for "50 cent" and those of his ilk.

I will admit this party was in poor taste, and I would be very upset if I felt they were lumping the entire black race in with the ghetto stereotypes, but I didn't get that impression from the article. I dislike President Obama for his policies and the direction he is leading the country, I could care less that his skin is darker than mine.

Finally, we all need to lighten up and be able to laugh at ourselves and not get so sensitive that anything other than admiration is viewed as racist. I'm of Italian descent (not Italian-American: I'm American of Italian descent) and I laugh at the portrayals of Italian stereotypes without taking them personally. Maybe you ought to try it.

In Wake of Threats, Johnny Weir Goes From Fox to Faux {Fanhouse Olympics Blog}

Jan 31st 2010 11:43PM PETA and the rest of the idiots need to get a life. I have no problem with them making a personal choice to not wear fur, and I don't even mind them starting up their organization to let people know what their opinion is. But... the operative word here is "OPINION"! They are not the last word in this matter and have no right to expect everyone to share their opinion. Fine - tell someone famous you don't like them wearing fur, but after that you have no right to pursue it further. I belong to PETA - just the People Eating Tasty Animals chapter.

I'm sick of people like them thinking they can throw paint on someone's expensive fur, etc. I'd love for them to do something like that to me - they'd find themselves on their butt looking at the sky and seeing stars.

Chris Matthews MSNBC: 'I Forgot Obama Was Black for an Hour' {BV Black Spin}

Jan 29th 2010 1:53AM "...would have completely ruined Obama's BRILLIANT speech."???? That had to be one of the most boring, vapid speeches I've ever heard! Even Harry Reid couldn't keep from yawning!

However, I do feel for the President - it had to be difficult to try and give a speech when your first year as president has been pretty much an unmitigated disaster. And, considering that the Democrats have controlled Congress since 2006 (Ok - 2007 if you want to be technical about it) and have a Super Majority, how can you blame the disaster on Republican's being recalcitrant when you theoretically have the votes to pass anything you want? It's his own party that he can't get the votes from. If all the Democrats fell in line, the Republicans couldn't have stopped anything!
