Man Endures 30 Chick Flicks in 30 Days {Asylum}

Feb 17th 2010 7:31PM WTF?
i am a woman, and not only is "Blade Runner" one of my top three favorite movies, the thought of watching even ONE of these so-called "chick flicks" makes me want to barf. i think i am pretty safe in saying that none of my 'chick' friends wants to watch any of these crap-o-rama films.

Study Says We Eat Salads to Impress Guys; Guy Says, 'Have the Ribs' {Lemondrop}

Feb 17th 2010 6:45PM uh, my husband is similar- i'm vegetarian (NOT militant about it) and my husband is the opposite- he loves meat and junk food, AND is a picky eater. i don't really like to cook but i'd do it more often if i he'd actually try something new or interesting, or not have to add meat to *everything* to enjoy it. and i don't mean weird vegetarian tofu health food meals, just stuff that is quite ordinary to eat without meat. seriously, i made spaghetti with marinara sauce the other day and he said it was good, but would be WAY BETTER with meatballs. i would have loved to fancy it up with lots of grilled onions, green peppers etc but he wouldn't have wanted to eat it if i had. i've dated lots of meat eating guys (and have many carnivorous friends) who had/have no problem eating or cooking food without meat and enjoying it. i love him to death but what can i do when he'd rather eat a box of frozen corn dogs than a freshly home cooked burrito, bowl of soup, or lasagna just because there's no meat in it.

Is the Girl of My Dreams In a Bar? {Lemondrop}

Feb 17th 2010 6:45PM i met my husband in a bar, and i don't even drink! i was there to see friends, shake it to good music, and see a great band. i didn't talk to him til the end of the night, even though both i and my gay friend had been staring goggle eyed the whole time, because i figured anyone that good-looking was either already daring someone or a self absorbed pr!ck. (he was neither. he actually thinks he's unattractive.)
we didn't exchange numbers or anything....but a mutual friend who had read both our online blogs about meeting a 'cutie' the night before steered us toward each other and in march we'll have been together six years. and as for his quality, in the time we've been together we've both been through some major sh!t that would break up many couples (the deaths of both our moms, my dad, and his two closest friends, for starters) and we've stood by each other through the worst of it. maybe i just got lucky, but i can definitely say that good partners CAN be found in bars.

"for the most part, looking for true love in a bar is like looking for legal advice at Arby's"
that line didn't just make me LOL, i guffawed. and who knows, maybe some great lawyers love arby's food? ;-)

The White Stripes Claim Air Force Lifted Their Song Without Permission {Spinner}

"While [ROCK STAR] are out drinking, during drugs, assaulting underaged girls, the men and women of the US Air force are out there defending such piddling groups the right to do the stupid things they do."

i'm sure my mom & aunt would love to hear your statement, considering they were both raped by drunken marines when they were 12 and 10, respectively. yup, those are abunch of fine & upstanding guys!

Feb 10th 2010 6:01PM begging for a woman? jack white has been married to the beautiful british supermodel karen elson since 2005. and for all those who keep saying they are "nobodies" because they have personally never heard of them, a quick wiki or google search is all it takes to see they've worked with Beck, The Rolling Stones, Jeff Beck, Alicia Keys, Bob Dylan and Loretta Lynn. because, you know, ALL of those famous musicians take the time to work with "nobodies".

'Will Marry for Health Insurance' -- One Woman's Desperate Quest {Lemondrop}

Feb 9th 2010 3:29PM @ Carrie- did you even read the article?

'"So I have this job where I'm able to be productive and make money where I normally wouldn't, but everybody who works for the company is disabled and they can't get health care because the insurance company says, "Everybody who works for you is disabled. We're going to charge you a fortune to keep all of these disabled people on your policy."'

the woman DOES have a job and still CANNOT get insured.
and what does her age the fact she is attractive have to do with her disability? are you saying only old people can be disabled, or disabled people have to be ugly or LOOK disabled for you to believe it, or since she is attractive and well put together she cannot POSSIBLY be disabled? my grandma looked gorgeous at her funeral and she was DEAD. but according to your ignorant comment since she looked great she shoulda been able to jump right out of that coffin and support herself, eh?
i've lived long enough to have had plenty of friends & family members who were partially or fully disabled some of whom were quite young and good looking as well. youth and beauty have absolutely NO correlation to illness or ability to work.

Feb 9th 2010 3:15PM megan, i think you have crappy health insurance. my husband and i have kaiser and they covered me even while we were living together not yet married. i have lifelong severe chronic asthma and other pre-existing conditions, also no insurance for several years prior as i was self-employed, and it was no problem. he works for a very large (US & worldwide) corporation so we are lucky to get a good rate on our insurance...he works hard and is underpaid but stays there for the great insurance.

The White Stripes Claim Air Force Lifted Their Song Without Permission {Spinner}

Feb 9th 2010 2:52PM Marcusm maybe you do not realize this but jack white has his own record label and writes & publishes his own music- i think he'd know if the air force used his song with permission or not. they did not, and that is THEFT, pure & simple, no matter what purpose the song is used for.

The White Stripes Claim Air Force Lifted Their Song Without Permission {Spinner}

Feb 9th 2010 2:49PM @Joe- a "going nowhere" band? REALLY? is that why jack white is in THREE highly successful bands (white stripes, raconteurs, deadweather)? i have friends in the music industry, and trust me, everyone is trying to get in with him because whatever music he touches turns to GOLD. the air force is trying to catch some publicity on the white stripes success, not the other way around.
