Your Flip-Flops Might Land You in the ER {Lemondrop}
Jul 29th 2010 8:58PM I've been wearing flip flops for most of my adult life (I'm 68) and have yet to experience any of the problems mentioned in the article. I usually try to get a decent pair (around $15.00) which have some thickness that will eventually mold to your feet. In fact, I don't know anyone who's had any problems in all my years in the tropics and elsewhere. Not exactly an empirical, scientific study, but IMHO the article is pure BS.
Worst Action Movie Cliches {Cinematical}
Aug 10th 2007 11:09AM The high tech heist with the thief suspended on cables dodging lasers, the tech geek who knows how to re-route every circuit in a skyscraper, car chases going down the wrong way on a freeway, hero jumping 3 stories onto the back of a moving garbage truck.......
Hot Countries for Your Next Move {AOL Hot Searches}
Jun 20th 2007 10:56AM Having lived in Panama for several years now I can say without hesitation that it currently is the most over-hyped country on the planet. Scams and speculation abound and everyone will try and sell you overpriced real estate.(a bubble which is predicted to burst soon) The bureaucracy is so cumbersome it can make you crazy. A new law only allows for a 30 day tourist visa with one 60 day extension if you can present a good reason for needing it. Don't plan on being a snowbird unless you have deep pockets. Do your own research and don't rely on publications like Escape Artist or International Living, for example. Notice who's name appears at the top of the search list. There are a number of Yahoo discussion groups devoted to Panama. Check 'em out first. They'll give you the good, bad and the ugly.
The Netscape Homepage Experience {Netscape Blog}
Nov 3rd 2006 8:08PM I vent frequently on this site, mostly to the choir, but it does help me organize my thoughts on various issues and get a feeling what the "other side" might be thinking. If someone objects to the comment aspect of the articles presented the answer would seem obvious...don't read them. I do like being able to view the eclectic news items presented from all over the planet. All portal sites seem to have their share of fluff (who's breaking up with who, etc) and this site is no exception but I do think it has much merit and deserves the chance to evolve and change and possibly turn into a viable source of information and community input. Whew!
Netscape Etiquette, Part 2: Comment Abuse Will Not Be Tolerated {Netscape Blog}
Oct 20th 2006 12:34PM In my short lifetime (64 yrs.) I've never feared or despised my government more than I do now. I don't think it's politics as usual anymore and gray areas in the discourse arena seem far and few between. Yes, I'm angry and I'm polarized. With these sentiments in mind I find it difficult not to attack the messenger on occasion when I see what I deem a stupid, uninformed or irrational thought. And sometimes it might not be pretty. I agree that profanity or threats of personal violence are uncalled for but I also worry about censorship of any kind. Let's try some civility for a change and see how it works.
