State of Alabama Wears the Crown as College Football King {Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog}

Jan 12th 2011 8:22PM Want to show us some proof, loudmouth? Last time I looked, most recently it was a Big Ten team that had players selling stuff for cash.

Charlie Daniels Calls U.S. Government a 'Dictatorship' {The Boot}

Mar 26th 2010 6:42AM Right. Just like things you take for granted, such as the 8 hour day, workers' compensation, overtime pay, etc., etc.

So-called "conservatives", especially Republicans, have opposed nearly every piece of legislation that has been passed to benefit the average citizen. The only one the Republicans didn't oppose was the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and that was only because LBJ had then in a corner and they knew it.

Opponents have told so many lies about this legislation that they can't remember which is which.
Remember, mere repetition of a lie does NOT turn it into the truth.

Look back over the past 50 years and think about the pattern of lies and deliberately misleading statements, all by Republicans. "Social security is socialism" "Umm, well, guess not."- Medicare will destroy American medicine". Hmm, it didn't , did it?" - "Saddam has WMDs!" Whoops, our bad, not rally."This bill sets up "death panels". "Oh, sorry, that isn't in there, is it?" "It's a government takeover!" "Oh, well, kind of. It doesn't matter if that's really true or not!"

Mark Twain aid "The difference between a cat and a lie is that a cat only has nine lives."

Auburn's Victory Worth Every Celebration {Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog}

Jan 2nd 2010 9:49AM Get it right! There was no dirty play involved in the roughing call.

Watch the film. The Auburn player was on his back. sliding along the muddy ground with his back to the kicker. There was no way he could have seen where he was going or done anything to prevent what was obviously an inadvertent hit.

Both teams played their hearts out. There had to be a winner and in this case it was Auburn.

War Eagle!

Dierks Bentley Hails 'Tough' Fort Hood Hero {The Boot}

Nov 8th 2009 12:16PM well, if you're going to "get it right", at least do so. the correct spelling is "heroine"!

How one minute can cost you $530 at Calgary International Airport {Gadling}

Mar 18th 2009 9:17AM After leaving his passport in the hotel and having to go get it, my son tried to reschedule a flight from Paris to Dublin on Aer Lingus this Monday.

He expected to pay a fee to do so, but their "fee" was more than his entire round-trip previously so he didn't get to go.

The airlines could care less about passengers. I work at an airport and hear the derisive comments ll the time from airline people.

The recent example by RyanAir, which wanted to charge passengers for using their bathroom (what's next, a per breath charge for using "their" air?) just clarifies the attitudes of most airlines toward the people that pay their bills.

Unfortunately, it's going to get worse before it gets better. The airlines think they are irreplaceable and can do as they please.

What Brought You Out to the Polls? {AOL Elections Blog}

Nov 9th 2006 8:58AM C'mon deemo,

Do we hear how many people die every day from starvation or lack of healthcare? If you're so ocncerned about life, how about helping those that are already here?

Get out there and help make the need for an abortion rare because people have access to birth control and don't have to make that choice.

See to it that money is spent to help people obtain decent housing, jobs and education so they can make a decent living wage.

This is the richest country in the world, yet we lag behind others in areas where we should lead! Something is wrong when we can't feed, clothe and house most of our population because they can't afford it!

Unless something is done, this nation will divide into two clases, the rich and the rest of us. The middle class is shrinking. Good-paying jobs are disappearing and being replaced by "service jobs" paying $7.00-$9.00 per hour with no benefits.

Employers, like Wal-Mart, admit that they are taking aim at long term, better paid employees just to increase their profit.

This attitude permeates business. I was laid off 6 months ago so that the copmpany could wait three months then hire a whole new crew at 2/3 of what we were paid but with 3 times the territory to cover.

And what happened? The CEO and upper level management cashed in when their stock optioned shares went up! The people who did the work and produced the product got left out. This is more and more common.

History shows that when the gap between the welathy and the poor gets too large, there's usually a revolution.

I'm 55 and still job-hunting. I'll never, ever, put a company or organization's needs above those of myself and my family again.

Ann Coulter is/was Really Busy {AOL Elections Blog}

Nov 2nd 2006 2:02PM If you had bothered to read the article, you would know that they have tried..not once, not twice, but "several times".. to handle this. But, ol' Annie is "too busy". And, if I remember correctly, Ann is an attorney, isn't she?

Whether the supervisor is a Democrat, a Republican, a Whig or a Tory, is immaterial.

If she knowingly did what they say, she should account for it, period.

On another topic, the "raid" on Rush's records was done with a legal warrant, signed by a Judge. You'll note that it was never quashed and that they were allowed to go over them after a hearing.

Sometimes those who think they're better than the rest of us get reminded that the laws aren't just for the "little people."

Republicans Show They Are The Party of Accountability {AOL Elections Blog}

Oct 22nd 2006 12:12PM Seems to me that this "accountability" you're touting so ludly is pretty much a "Whoops! Our guy got caught. WE better do SOMETHING!" reaction.

Republican operatives have been involved in vote suppression and scare tactics for years. Remember Nixon? The history is there. It hasn't stopped, just changed. Old dogs, same tricks.

Look at the White House. ol' Duhbya wouldn't be there at all, thus no war, etc., if his cronies and his daddy's buddies on the Supreme Court hadn't handed it to him. Crooks, crooks, crooks.

And before you bring up Mayor Daley, Chicago, 1960, my answer is: "So what?"
