More Women Than Men Keeping Jobs {Lemondrop}

Jan 1st 2009 5:34PM I am a single mother so I've been taking care of my little family all alone for a long time. I guess I could be angry, but right now I'm just terrified because I have no backup if something goes wrong, I'm it. I only have one job, one pretty good job, but the company I work for laid off 30 (about 25% of our office) people in March '08 and are planning another 10-15 after the new year. I count myself fortunate in may ways, but this is one scarry time.

Charity Case: What Do Women Want, Anyway? {Lemondrop}

Jan 1st 2009 5:06PM These women are not being honest about what they want, they want someone who excites them and let's face it, responsible grown up isn't as fun as party and play. But, I'd say that the bigger problem is why you are asking out these women. I've known guys like you and my experience is generally that they are not asking out grown up responsible women, but instead going after the "hot party girls" who are not ready for a grown up guy yet (and there is NOTHING wrong with that).

Whites Apologetic for W.Va. Torture Case {Blackvoices Main}

Oct 2nd 2007 5:47PM 1. I'd like to see the charges PILLED on I don't give a $*#& if kidnapping already carries life sencentes. Let them have three life sentences.

2. I wish blacks were equally ashamed of the Jena six, even though it appears that they were over charged and that needs to be corrected, civilized people shouldn't react with violence when there isn't an immediate threat. I'm personally ashamed that the parents are unwilling to condemn there violent acting teens (not withstanding their need to say everything is "alleged").

BEYONCE with BROWN HAIR: Who says, 'Blondes Have More Fun?' {Blackvoices Main}

Sep 30th 2007 4:43PM I spent 2 years wearing my hair natural (not straightened) and it was a NIGHTMARE. I had to spend hours every morning trying to style it and combing it hurt like hell, so no, I'm not interested in going natural. That's why we see that in areas where they wear it natural, they cut if off short like a boy. Also, I like Bey's hair blonde better, sorry folks.

Airline CEO Mistakenly Hits "Reply All," Blasts Customer {News Bloggers}

Aug 29th 2007 6:42PM I sympathize with some of these horror stories, but really folks, would you prefer to be put on an airplane that possibly has maintenence problems or with a crew who isn't well rested or in dangerous weather? While his attitude is absoultely obnoxious, he is correct. Everyone now shops for the lowest of fares and we reward those airlines who serve it up (although the folks of Southwest understand how to provide good service with their fares).

I travelled this summer on NW and I was delayed coming because we had to wait for the flight crew to have a minimum five hour rest period. I absolutely wish to wait for them to be rested, and frankly, I didn't think five hours was enough. I would have gladly waited twice as long. On the return, there was a maintenence issue and we had to get a new plane, again, I'll gladly wait.

Given the nature of air travel if there is a delay in one area due to weather, of course it's going to cause a domino effect in other locations depending on the arrival of that aircraft. I personally do not wish to pay three or four time more for a ticket so the airline can have multiple planes JUST SITTING AND WAITING to replace a plane that is stranded in increment weather or in need of additional maintenence. Even if we stripped executive pay, it wouldn't be enough to order that many more planes that mostly sit and wait, and when they consider hiring new crew, they aren't just thinking about current annual pay, but the current and future benefits, including retirment, until they die.

Before anyone asks, I don't work for an airline, but after years of frequent business travel and realizing the nature of the business, the only change I'll recommend is that employees be trained to be more compassionate in their customer service demeanor. Air travel delays are like traffic delays. We CANNOT stop weather, accidents or stalled vehicles from causing delays. We need to plan for it, or we'll be late.

That Really, Really, Really Fat Indian Guy {News Bloggers}

Aug 28th 2007 2:42PM #8, and the many who think like #8, have a sad ignorance that is so prevalent today. You are exactly right about what is required to practice good nutrition, and in addition to having little money, many poor are also poor in time. Imagine a parent who gets up at 6am to get their kid(s) ready for school, then goes to work for 8+ hours, then has to come home and manage homework (which is insane these days) and prepare a healthy dinner, healthy lunches (most school lunch is crap) and baths and getting the kid(s) and yourself to bed to be able to perform worth a damn the next day. Not everyone lives in a neighborhood where it's safe to let their kids play outside the way I was allowed when I was a kid and the combination (no exercise, poor diet) is nutritional suicide.

There is a small window to install the VALUES and VALUE of good nutrition to children because by age 12 or 13, you will loose control of many of the food and snack choices they make. It's no easier to control than your teens access to alcohol and drugs.
