'I Love Boobies' Breast Cancer Campaign Sparks Outrage {Lemondrop}
Sep 9th 2010 12:30AM first off let me state that my mother royally kicked boob cancers ass. for 7 years now! and right now my aunt is beating the shit out of boob cancer too.
now its time for a little story. my mother went into to get a mamogram because she was thinking about getting a brest reduction. they found a spot that turned out to be cancerous. had she not done this and waited until a lump had formed my mother would not be here. she had angels watching over her.
NOW when my mom found out that she would have to have a double mastectomy yeah she was scared but that fear quickly turned to excitement because she was going to get a perky new pair of tits. these are her words not mine. we had a boob-voyage party where everyone got double d cupcakes. she wrote a beautiful poem called ode to my mams. and we dabated on wether or not my mother could walk around topless in public since indecent exposure laws in regards to females only refers to the exposure of nipples. and since she no longer has nipples does this apply to her? when she was goin through chemo and radiation she shaved a mohawk into hair as a homage to me despite her having to have a professional appearance since she is an occupational therapist her logic was "what are they going to do fire me? i have fucking breast cancer! if im going to lose my hair i might as well go out in style". she hated all those womens journey crap things (again her words) because even if her natural breasts were gone that did not somehow make her anyless of a woman. i even asked her once if she was in the slightest bit afraid. she said no. she said she didnt have time to die because who take care of us idiots (referring to my father, sister and myself)
in short my mother is badass!
now i can see why this slogan can offend people truely i do. however, i think that the whole save the boobies campaign is a BRILLIANT way to get more people aware. not everyone may be connected to someone who has kicked or is kicking cancers ass and since we live in a society where sex sells why not use that to our advantage? forgive me but a shirt that says save the boobies is more apt to draw attention than a shirt that says hope. heck even if its negative attention that is sometimes even better! because in the world of media if someone is opposed to something they will be more likely to tell at least 10 people. and those 10 people will look into the subject and make their own opinions. and when it comes to this particular slogan i think i have only ever come across one person who was offended by the slogan UNTIL she found out that it was supporting finding a cure. she was happy that the younger generation is doing its part too.
so i say hell yeah! SAVE THE BOOBIES!!! SAVE THE BALLS!! (thats my shout out to all you gentlemen out there stompin the shit out of prostate cancer!)
Man With Cancer Seeks Father Figures for His Daughters in 'The Council of Dads' {ParentDish}
Apr 28th 2010 11:57PM a part of me doesnt think that this is the best way to deal with a cancer diagnosis. i mean its like hes putting it in his mind that he doesnt have to fight as hard because things would be taken care of by his council of fathers
when i was 19 my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. a good chunk of her lymph nodes were infected and the type she had has a high risk coming back. she had both breasts removed.
i asked her once during all of that if she was scared that she might die. she confidently informed that she doesnt have the time to die. "who else would take care of our family if i go? besides im really excited because im going to get a perky new pair of boobs!"
before her surgery we a had a boob-voyage party for her breasts. and as promised my mother kicked cancers ass. when my mother makes up her mind theres no changing. i firmly believe that her attitude towards it all is what helped her get through it with hardly any problems. =)

Avalanche of Animated Adventures Alienates Audiences {Cinematical}
Oct 13th 2006 2:52PM I am a 2d animator (or a traditional animator I make it all by hand.)
And although I have the highest respects for my CG counterparts I am so sick of it all. I never thought that the day would come when I would say this about a cartoon as they have been my lifes passion. But these days they just shell one out after another as fast as they possibly can and each time the quality gets more and more watered down. Not only the quality of the appearence but the quality of the stories are starting to faulter as well. It really makes me sad because when CG films first started coming out it was absolutely amazing! I didn't see them everywhere I looked thus it was a special treat.
I was heartbroken the day Disney studios shut down their traditional department and said that they will never make another 2d movie. At one point Pixar was toying with the idea of opening a 2d dept but well when Disney and Pixar merged well that idea went out the window. Why did they scrap these ideas? Because they took to long to make and ended up costing more, (despite the fact that most of the remaining 2d cartoons that are left are outsorced to Korea at disgustingly cheap prices)
Ahhh thats capitalism at its finest for ya. What profrit is there in top notch quality and effort and making something absolutely amazing that takes about 3 years to make. WHEN you can hire a gaggle of CG animators to enter a few codes in the computer and have alot of the animating process done for you. It cuts production time in half there for allowing it to reach the public much faster so that that general public can waste their money on lower quality films.
Now im not saying that CG animation is easy because its not, it does take alot of skill to be able to make something as gorgeous as say OH final fantasy advent children. But it just sucks because for someone like me no wants to hire me because i dont have enough CG experience, because im old fashioned and not up on the latest techknoldgies, because I prefere quality over quantity.
So what if a film takes a few years to make it'll be by far more successful than something someone threw together in 9 months.
