the fact that they are saying she either flew out or was pushed actually implies she may have gone out the WINDOW, in which door safety locks (which I have and use on both of my vehicles) wouldn't have mattered, and could explain why she 'didn't know' the child was missing from the vehicle..

the issue at hand here is an irresponsible woman committed a negligent act, that could've taken this child's life! maybe if she sits behind bars long enough, she'll think about what it truly takes to be a responsible parent, and thank God her stupidity didn't kill her niece!

as far as the jerk whining about her skin color- does it REALLY matter?! I'm waaaay lighter now than I was as a child, as I'm not in the sun all day like I was as a child.. she's an amazing and talented woman, and whether light or dark, THOSE facts are not gonna change!! Oct 8th 2010 6:11PM I have raised 4 children, worked 4 weekly 12 hour nights shifts while going to school full time, and not ONCE did I leave my child in a vehicle- PERIOD!!

one young woman stated that she'd forgotten her child was in the car; BIG difference, seeing that she was ALSO in the car as well!! now, there was one time I was driving to work, dropped off my kids with my Mom- only to get almost to work, and see my baby boy fast asleep in his carseat; as a Mom, a nursing employee for ER and ICU, I cannot even begin to fathom what that poor child went thru.. I'm sorry; I've seen WAY too much in my 25 years in this field to have empathy for the father, but my heart does go out to the child and her mother.. God rest her soul....

Jul 28th 2010 11:35AM the child may have had problems, but the fact that his throat was also slit speaks volumes.. being an alleged pyromaniac doesn't mean he's a murderer.. that said, the latest is he and the mother had drugs in their systems, and there was a note in the the mother's handwriting found too.. it's looking more and more like the MOTHER was the perp, not this 14 yr old.. either way, it's disturbing...

Jul 27th 2010 1:36AM I, too, can't stand that tag, as I've not left a THING in Africa!! my descendants may have come from there, but I didn't.. I'm proud of ALL aspects of my heritage (Black, and Asian), but to label me African ANYTHING is just wrong!

Jul 27th 2010 12:17AM I agree with your statement! as a black, (NOT African American) and Asian woman with a multi racial husband (Native, Irish and black) I have a daughter that's red haired, green, slanted eyed, fair skinned and freckled- and neither of us are light skinned either.. my own hair is also naturally red, and I also have freckles.. I also have a blond haired, blue eyed nephew, as well as a red haired, blue eyed niece.. ANY race can produce a child that looks like ANY ethnicity... and these kids are all beautiful regardless!!

Jul 24th 2010 10:35PM I'm on the side of something's not adding up!! being a seeming pyeromaniac does NOT make you a murderer.. if this just happened Thursday, they couldn't have investigated as thouroughly as they need to in such a short time.. since he was found in a back bedroom, he could've been the last victim, the killer drooped the weapon, thinking the evidence would be destroyed in the subsequent fire, and if he didn't die right away, ended up on it.. it's sad this child has been labeled a murderer before they really, REALLY look at all the pieces to this puzzle.. may they all rest in peace..

I'm not going to put all white men in a category, any more than I want black men lumped into one.. I'm addressing THIS incident, not all of black history because we'd be here all damned day with this!

in THIS instance, from what I can see, they girls were wrong- period! I can certainly agree to disagree, but as the mother, sister and aunt of police officers, sometimes they have to do what they have to do to come home every night.. had the girls stepped over to the car, as they were asked to do, according to some reports, this incident would probably be a non- story.. I respect and love my people, but sometimes, we determine our own outcome, and I'll side every time on the side I feel is right.. this is NOT a race issue, so I'm not sure why it's becoming one.. would he have been just as 'wrong' had the girls been white?? hmmmmmm...
