Paper Takes on "Food Snobs" in Portland {Slashfood}
Oct 23rd 2010 11:57PM I'm always wary about using the term "foodie" about myself, as I love all types of food, from gourmet down to fast, and I can't stand the snobbery of the people these guys obviously mean in using the term. That said...you hate American cheese and probably America? The only thing I hate is Kraft trying to say "cheese" that isn't even actually cheese is what represents this country. I think everyone needs to take a chill pill and deal with the fact that other people are allowed to have opinions, too.
Cute Girl Has a Catchy Dance - In a Viral Samsung Ad {Urlesque}
Sep 14th 2010 11:50PM Adorable! I don't have the faintest clue what it has to do with a smart phone, but it's adorable.
'Prairie Home' Host Suffers Mild Stroke {PopEater}
Sep 9th 2009 11:14PM Thank you for that heart attack, guys. Glad to hear he's doing well and hope the rest of his recovery is just as smooth and as fast as possible!
'Orphan' Angers Adoptive Parents {ParentDish}
Jul 22nd 2009 11:08PM I have only a vague interest in this movie, doubt it will get (or deserve) good reviews, and think that we do need to avoid stereotypes or making adopted kids be different from "real" kids, but dudes, do you really think anyone is going to see this movie and go "ZOMG now I can't adopt because the child might be the SPAWN OF A DEMON FROM HELL!"? Come on, you can find bones to pick about anything. Spend your time proving how good adoption can be.
40,000 Hacked Web Sites Could Infect Your Computer {Switched}
Jun 3rd 2009 11:18PM Death and bodily harm are going too far, but I agree that this bastards get off way too easily. Stealing identity is considered a serious crime, it's just that it's hard to detect, so I'll let that one go for a moment. But people who release viruses are just making people miserable for the hell of it. Having spent hours on end during two seperate occasions removing something called "Spyware Protect 2009" from my laptop, I'd like for these people to be marched in public while everyone who's ever had to deal with their creation pelts them with rotten vegetables and then condem them to remove their own viruses ten times over with no bathroom break.
Michael Phelps Suspended for 3 Months By USA Swimming {Fanhouse Backporch}
Feb 7th 2009 7:39PM I didn't much follow the Olympics- though I did watch that last race of Phelp's on the edge of my seat like everyone else- and I'm in no poisition to quibble with this guy getting punnishments for a choice he made, knowing full well the reaction it would cause if he were caught, and that his being caught was likely. However, this whole thing is a reflection of our society critisizing something just because it always has and that's how things are "supposed to be". If we ban pot, why not cigarettes? Why not alcohol. Obviously, there need to be some restritions: being high in certain situations can put people in danger or at least sufficently disturb them. But otherwise? If someone wants to do drugs on their own time in their own home, why should we care? They aren't hurting anyone- okay, maybe themselves, but then back to cigarettes and alcohol. We tell people where to smoke and try to get them to stop. If someone is addicted to alcohol, we get them help. But otherwise? Pot, however, got a label a long time ago. And we've kept that label up. Why, though? Truth is, you'd be hard pressed to find a reason given the many other things we accept in our society. Why is pot bad? Because it is. We have no better reason than that, and yet we're too lazy to reevaluate. Michael Phelps made a choice, and he knew the consequences. But the consequences themselves are just kind of rediculous.
