Obese passenger forces neighbor on US Airways flight to stand for 7 hours {Gadling}

Nov 24th 2011 3:30PM I suppose it could depend on the flight and how full it is already. Mine was going to Hawaii from New Jersey (with a stop in California), and it was with Continental. They told me I could not buy another ticket, nor could they guarantee that the middle seat would be open. Also, I fit into a seat belt with no extender, so I guess I don't count as taking up 2 seats. Maybe that was why, or maybe I just talked to the wrong person, I don't know. I have never had a person not be able to sit down next to me, but it's impossible for my side to not be touching the other passenger, and I doubt if I sat in a middle seat that I could get both armrests down.

It's not just fat people that don't fit in, though. It's men with broader than average shoulders, women with wider than average hips, really muscular men, or people with very long legs. Stop being mad at the fat person that sits next to you for not losing some weight (pretend they have a medical issue and can't help it if that makes it easier) and start writing airlines to tell them they should either make wider seats for the comfort of everyone or maybe have a few special rows with wider seats that you have to pay extra for and have to prove that you're actually overweight (or larger than average, as in the above examples).

I get that I have to lose weight. I'm trying, even. But if I want to go home to visit my family, I have to fly. I can't drive across the ocean. And with around 140 lbs. to lose, that's not going to happen this month. Probably not even this year. Everyone has problems with something in their life that they don't do as well as they should; it would help if we all had a bit more compassion for each other.

Obese passenger forces neighbor on US Airways flight to stand for 7 hours {Gadling}

Nov 23rd 2011 4:52PM I'm sorry, but this was not the obese passenger's fault. Airlines do not allow overweight passengers that take up more than one seat to buy more than one ticket. Trust me, I'm obese and I have tried. They reply, "One ticket per person. It's the rule." I say okay, but give me an aisle seat and try to keep the seat next to me open for as long as possible. Then I try to stick myself into the aisle as much as possible except when they have to push the trays through the aisle.

That's why I don't like the title of this article. The obese passenger didn't force anyone to do squat. As long as we keep blaming fat people for crappy airline conditions, they're going to keep giving them to us. Even skinny people sitting all in a row have no leg or elbow room; fine for a short flight, but as customers, we should demand more on longer flights.

Also, $200? I agree; that is nothing. Standing for that long, they should've given him far more compensation. First-class round trip his next flight, I'd say. If he wouldn't take that, then give him the monetary value of that.

Diet Soda Linked to Weight Gain, Says Study {That's Fit}

Jul 5th 2011 7:25PM I actually only drink diet sodas. And not because I think it will help me to lose weight, but because we only ever had diet sodas in our home growing up, so regular soda tastes disgustingly sugary to me. And that probably sounds funny coming from a fatty like me, but I am not fat because of sugar -- I'm fat because of salty foods like chips and pretzels.

If aspartame is indeed making me crave the chips and pretzels, then maybe I should stop, but is there really enough evidence that there is a definite link between drinking artificial sweeteners to increased cravings for food? I don't know if correlation necessarily equals causation here, because what if the reason people who drink diet sodas seem to be fatter is because they are drinking them in an effort to lose weight, whereas healthy weight people just enjoy the occasional sugary soda? That would mean it wasn't the aspartame at all, but just a coincidence.

Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears In Sequin Bodysuit: Who Wore It Best? [Photos, Poll] {Stylelist (Main)}

Jun 26th 2011 9:03AM I like Lopez better than Spears, because I think she is more talented and has a better personality, and she's also more attractive. However, I have to admit that when comparing those 2 pictures above, Britney looks better...

9 Easy Ways to Fit in More Fitness {That's Fit}

Jun 25th 2011 9:09AM These actually all are surprisingly easy. Except the one about doing 50 pushups XD. I'm lucky if I can do 1 good one, with going down all the way, hovering, and pushing back up without sticking my butt up in the air. Maybe "girl pushups" to start :P?

The Kardashian Clan and Their Countless Bikinis [Photos] {Stylelist (Main)}

Jun 21st 2011 7:32PM Is there some kind of inside joke where everyone calls the Kardashians fat? I looked at all the pictures, and those women don't look fat to me at all.

Judge to Mom: 'You Don't Spank Children' {ParentDish}

Jun 21st 2011 7:25PM I am not against corporal punishment. However, it says the grandma found red marks on the kid's behind. If the spanking leaves marks (assuming it wasn't within minutes of the spanking, of course), it was not appropriate, especially for a child that young.

Spankings should never leave bruises, people. If it does, it's abuse. Also, spanking should only be a last resort when other methods of punishment have been exhausted.

Bristol Palin Reveals She Lost Virginity While Drunk {PopEater}

Jun 19th 2011 8:38AM So....Is she ever going to get a real job? Or is her son going to have to grow up with his mom talking to everyone about what a mistake he was, and trashing his father? It's Bristol's choice to do what she wants in life, but it sucks that her kid has no say in the matter. I feel badly for Tripp.

Britney Spears Kicks Off Femme Fatale Tour (Photos) {PopEater}

Jun 17th 2011 4:36PM She's in a lot better shape than most of you people criticizing her. She's not fat; those clothes are just not flattering at all. She's had 2 children and doesn't starve herself; give her a break. I think she still looks good.
