SmackDown: Should Body Piercings Be Allowed in School? {ParentDish}

Sep 17th 2010 10:58PM Wayne, take your head out of your ass and get with the present times. I'm 43 ,married male and I let my 17 y/o daughter (100% girly girl) who is taking cosmetology courses on my dollar , pierce my left ear. There are thousands of men or boys with ear piercings that are not gay ,including me. Try going to the nearest blue collar alcohol serving establishment and announce to the patrons that every ear pierced male in the joint is gay and I guarantee that you won't make it out of there without your own blood spewing out of one or more places on your body.
Its the ones who grow up wanting to wear mommys clothes and design womens clothing that you need to look at.

SmackDown: Should Body Piercings Be Allowed in School? {ParentDish}

Sep 17th 2010 10:43PM Piercings such as ears are considered normal . Only in the last couple decades have we noticed more young adults getting their tongues ,navels and noses pierced , more recently -eyebrows and cartilage. There should be a 'line" drawn somewhere that would say that the tongue piercing anyway should not be allowed in schools since the reasoning behind it is sexual. How many times have you gone to an establishment to find that the young person taking your order has their tongue pierced and its is very difficult to understand them. They sound like they have a mouthful of marbles ,and the stud clangs off of their teeth - a very bad impression . I'm sure most of us have gotten the email titled something like - "Glad this is not my kid" and the email pictures many people with many various piercings and "gauging" - the over sized diameter studs ,although usually in the earlobe but have found their way to noses and lower lips. Looks like something out of a Nat Geo magazine taken of African bush tribesmen. Some things are just not "fashionable" and I'm sure can be a distraction . Bottom line , parents - please have some sort of idea what your kids are doing before they do it. If you can't talk them out of it - at least make a deal to have them wait for a while and if the urge to poke holes in various parts of their body still exists ,yeah they'll still go do it ,but at least you will know you tried.
Tattoos are another subject - some states may have an age requirement (18 in IL) with parental consent with signature. I got my first tattoo at age 36 second at 40 ( both of which have deep meaning) and my only piercing ( my left ear) just this past Jan 1st. My daughter is taking cosmetology school which I am paying for and she needed the practice. I was the first to sit voluntarily while she poked a hole in my ear. How many other dads would do that for their kid?

'Sons of Anarchy' Cast Talks Season 3, Guest Stars & Going Up Against the IRA (VIDEO) {AOL TV}

Sep 6th 2010 10:40AM Don, what are you basing your opinion on? Camel Dung? I think this show has more going for it than the same ol same ol cop or lawyer shows. This shows the other side , the "underground" side of life. I'm not saying its is family television but it certainly has a great plot , storyline and actors who fit their roles perfectly. Way better than the last 3 years of reality shows . Watch the the whole first 2 seasons , get caught up and you will be hooked . This is good stuff. If you still don't agree with me , go back to "the Office" .

Ask the AKC Animal Behaviorist - Help! The Dog Is Jumping on Guests {Pawnation OLD}

Jul 12th 2010 8:57AM I don't know where you get your information- The breeder only sets a price they believe it appropriate for their dog breeding. I am at the idea you have never experienced breeding of dogs. If you are the sires owner , the choice is one of two - take or charge a stud fee or take a first pick of the litter, pretty simple. If you own the dam ,you must at least charge to recoup for the time it takes to care for the mother, the litter and the initial vet costs- first day check ups, first series of vaccinations, dew claw removal ,etc. Raising a litter of pups and feeding them until they go to their families is not free or cheap by any means . I know from personal experience. So - your idea that breeders make a lot of money on their litters , I'd have to say is untrue .HOWEVER- If the sire or dam or both have earned titles , your idea could be true . No one is holding a gun to anyones head as to how much they should pay for a dog . Are there millions of pets in shelters , yes, but those are usually a result of someone buying a dog and thinking it is going to train itself ,then finding out that the dog becomes a troublesome pet if untrained.
People who adopt pets must answer a very simple and important set of questions before taking any animal home - do they have enough time in their day to provide enough 1)care 2) training ,3)exercise and 4)positive stimulation to the pet?
