Would You Give Condoms to Your 14-Year-Old? {ParentDish}

Mar 27th 2009 12:00PM Uh, did anyone read the story previous to this one? After reading that, I guess the answer would be YES!

Confidence and Reality {Lemondrop}

Dec 11th 2008 11:23AM I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed your Clive Owen fantasy!

Confidence and Reality {Lemondrop}

Dec 11th 2008 11:22AM I will never be good at making dinner without freaking out. I will also never be good at doing my own hair. As hard as I try I am just not good at either of those things. I am sure I could think of a few more as well.

Did Your Parents Become the Grandparents You Thought They'd Be? {ParentDish}

Dec 11th 2008 10:59AM No. My parents are way more hands off than I thought they would be. Their idea of grandparenting is spoiling them rotten with gifts and parking the kids in front of the tv all day. They think it is funny to give a baby soda and let little kids watch shows that are not appropriate for their age. They would rather have the kids entertain them rather than interact with the kids through play. They visit much less than I thought they would and don't seem to make the most of their time with the kids when we visit. Although I shouldn't be by this point, I am always surprised by how their grandparent. My mom plays favorites and makes it very obvious that my brother's daughter is "Grandma's Girl and My Special One." My dad tries every chance he gets to drive my kids (toddler & preschooler) around without a car seat, putting them at risk & starting a huge argument with me. It has taught me a lot about the kind of grandparent I want to be someday.

Kate Gosselin - Her Side {ParentDish}

Dec 11th 2008 10:53AM I really enjoy watching Jon & Kate Plus 8. I try to imagine life at the Gosselin house whenever I am having a tough day with my two kids. My son is the same age as the Six and I cannot imagine having more kids his age under the same roof! I really give them credit for keeping things together and having such well behaved kids. People always complain about how crabby Kate can get. I certainly get that crabby with just my two kids and I can understand how she would too. I just don't have a camera documenting it.

Worst Stocking Stuffers {ParentDish}

Dec 9th 2008 6:48PM I like getting all of those things too. We all get a toothbrush every year in our stockings. It is fun to search out and find a fun toothbrush for each member of our family. I love gift certificates too. It is just one last thing I have to buy for myself!

In Defense of the Fake Christmas Tree {ParentDish}

Dec 8th 2008 11:55AM I have never once had a real tree in my life. My parents always had an artificial tree and I just sort of followed in their footsteps. The past couple of years I have wanted to get a real tree, but our tight Christmas budget has kept us reusing our artificial tree. Maybe someday we will venture over to the other side. Although I don't know if I am a fan of the smell. Can you get a tree that doesn't have a scent?

Kick a Ginger Day Sparks Police Investigation {ParentDish}

Nov 23rd 2008 8:51PM As a redhead I am completely shocked by this! I am relieved that no one tried to kick me on that day. I will never understand how people can be so mean to fellow human beings just because they have a feature that makes them unique.

Raising Thankful Kids {ParentDish}

Nov 19th 2008 3:54PM We are trying to teach our kids to be thankful for not only some of the nice things we have, but also basics like buying food. Each week when we are grocery shopping we pick out items to put in our Donation Bag. We will a grocery bag with food and once it is full, we will take it to the food pantry. My son really seems to enjoy being able to put new items in the bag each week. I am not sure how much of this he understands, but we try to explain how lucky we are and how good it is to help others in need.
