Nov 21st 2009 8:42PM I have worked many times as a waitress and always prided myself on getting good tips because I felt like they indicated I was doing a good job. However; I can't understand why owners should expect the public to pay their employees wages. When you are hired they tell you what your pay will be and if you question it they say well with your tips, that will bring it up some. Then you work extra hard and get good tips when others don't care and barely take care of their customers and then they fuss about not getting any tips. so then the management comes down with another ruling. Now we will split all tips so that everyone will get paid the same. There are no other business that the public is expected to pay the help. I even saw some jobs being bid on and then paying the management because the management says the tips are so good. The resterant field is the only one I know that is exempt from paying minimum wages because of the tips. Can you imagine having to pay tips to everyone you do business with?
