Apr 20th 2011 12:47PM I can certainly empathize and my heart goes out to Tim and his family. A year ago I lost my mother on 4/7 then my father joined her on 4/21...exactly two weeks apart. It was devastating, but I am happy they are together. Tim...the pain will eventually ease.

Apr 12th 2010 2:26PM I don't agree with the way Ms. Hansen handled this situation, but I can completely emphathize with her mental anguish. I was the adoptive mother of a mentally ill child for five years. It was a domestic adoption, and DFS in no way, shape or form disclosed to me the depth of her illness. The preadoption report made it sound like she was a pleasant, well adjusted child which could not have been farther from the truth. The process of having the adoption reversed bankrupted me, and caused me to have a mental breakdown resulting in hospitalization. DFS threatened me with prison and bankruptcy...my mind became the prison. She attacked my sister and niece with scissors, and knocked over my 80 year old mother to name just some of the destruction. I took all the preadoption classes, read all the parenting books, asked for help from DFS for counselling, and used my church, and I am also a nurse...all to no avail. I was just told by DFS that if I loved her enough, everthing would be okay. She is now up for adoption again, and the preadoption evaluation says the same things that were told to me. I was prepared for problems, but I was not prepared for the lies. I doubt this "wonderful" little boy is without problems.

It's flattering, but get real. The most amazing was a 22 year old who wanted an "older, experienced" woman to help him lose his virginity. I said I would help him by finding a 30-something!
