Jan 4th 2011 3:42AM I want to feel good! That starts with eating right and getting the exercise I need. I'm a mom to 2 special needs kids and 5 adopted daughters. I'm also a nursing student. So being healthy is more important than ever! I want to lose 30 pounds, but more importantly, I want to feel strong and fit.

Is This 'Single Ladies' Video Too Hot for Tots? {ParentDish}

May 13th 2010 3:55PM And an even greater disservice was done by putting this on the site, then the video getting greater publicity as a featured story, including a still photo of the girls, on the aol homepage. Pedophiles who may not have noticed it otherwise were probably easily drawn in. Good job.

Opinion: Adoptive Mother Should Be Sent to the Gulag {ParentDish}

Apr 12th 2010 4:30PM I'm appalled that there are people in this country who find it acceptable to do that under any circumstances. There are always, ALWAYS options. No matter what, I would never view shipping a kid back on a plane an option. I fully agree with the author of this article that this woman clearly didn't do her research. I know people who have adopted children from other countries who have ended up with issues, some of them severe and even violent. The majority of people who adopt do their homework. Adoption should be viewed on the same level as having a biological child. There's no giving it back. Adoption isn't a magical way of taking in a child who fits your life plan. You get what you get & you work at it. Family takes work. I'm not sorry for this woman who had the opportunity to bring a child, however damaged he may have been, into her life. I'm sorry for this child who has to suffer rejection after already facing difficulties in life at such a young age. Maybe he was a "bad kid," but she's the monster.

Ride along on a freegan Dumpster dive and save some cash {WalletPop}

Mar 16th 2010 3:51PM The timing on this article is great. Just got to my office, which is next to a vending machine company that is ALWAYS throwing food away, some of which isn't even expired or damaged. So I'm sitting here eating a bag of dumpster Cheetos as I read this article.

Can't Ride a Bike at 8 - How Bad? {ParentDish}

Feb 27th 2010 9:28AM I am 32 years old & I can't ride a bike. People are universally appalled when I tell them this, which is so funny to me. Really, what's the worst consequence of not knowing how to ride a bike? You WALK to where you need to go. My mom tried to teach me but I eventually got so frustrated that I refused to try again. I'm an intelligent woman, if I do say so myself. My lack of bike riding ability hasn't had any effect on my long term success or satisfaction. I mean, really. It's a bike. As for the suggestion of having him screened for autism: are you kidding me?! I have an autistic teenager & I also have 5 other children. The suggestion that a child disinterested in what society deems as normal must be handicapped is frightening. Some of my kids can ride, some can't. The ones that can't have other interests. No big deal. Riding a bike is very low on the totem pole of what's important in life. Check your priorities.

Trouble in FarmVille: Facebook, gaming company face lawsuit over deceptive ads {WalletPop}

Dec 10th 2009 4:23PM "You have a point, but Facebook is not exclusively used by adults. My little sister started using Facebook and she wanted to take an IQ test because the ad made it appear as if all of her friends had taken it. She assumed it was safe and gave them her cell number. There was no fine print! She was a kid trying to have fun with her friends. How is this her fault? Facebook should protect their younger clientele."

Facebook doesn't allow users under 13. I realize a lot of kids open accounts by putting a fake birthdate, but the reason Facebook has the age restriction in place is for the protection of younger children. Anyone 13 & above (especially if mature enough to be given a cell phone) should be taught about scams. Unfortunately, the society we live in mandates that. When my teenagers were given cell phones I made sure to explain the importance of avoiding anything asking for their cell number. Not only to prevent scams, but also to protect from predators, etc.

Sep 28th 2009 10:29AM I know it's sad that I noticed this, but isn't the snazzy dancer guy in striped shirt & suspenders Wallace Langham from CSI & Veronicas Closet? I'm sure he would be thrilled that someone pointed that out.
