Forget Popcorn; Executive Demands Healthy Treats at Movie Theaters {PopEater}
Mar 20th 2010 1:13PM I don't see what all the fuss is about. Movie theaters don't have to stop offering popcorn, hotdogs, and candy...they just should offer some healthy treats in addition for those movie goers who might not want to gain a pound in one sitting. What's the big deal? Choice...it's an American preogative!
Ricki Lake's Fight Against Childhood Obesity {That's Fit}
Feb 22nd 2010 5:19PM She did? I think you're mixing her up with Carnie Wilson. They do kind of look alike. Carnie's bypass surgery ultimately failed-she's heavy again.
Jillian Michaels Sued Over Weight Loss Pills {That's Fit}
Feb 21st 2010 1:25PM The problem is, people want a quick fix for weight loss without putting in any effort. Fact is, weight loss is a lifestyle change. You need to eat healthier, trim your portions, and get active. And you have to keep doing it-you can't just quit when you lose your weight, because then it will come back on even faster. I lost sixty something pounds doing Weight Watchers at Work, but I will say this...the number of people in my meetings who don't actually bother to *do* the program and then complain it doesn't work...like they think that because they paid for the program they should just lose weight without having to do anything else...would astound you. We've become a very lazy society with no accountability. Pills don't work, shakes don't work...you have to eat less and move more. Period.
HerCut Catalyst - I Tried It! (and haven't had to wash my hair in 5 days!) {Stylelist}
Feb 20th 2010 8:51PM Funny, I remember in the eighties and early nineties reading from a textbook in German class that Elke only washed her hair every nine days. We were all like, "Ewwww!" but since the German textbook was from the early seventies, I guess this was a common practice then. Personally, I can't imagine going five days without washing my hair. After the second day, my hair starts to smell musty. I don't know if other people can smell it or it's just in my head, but that odor really bothers me so I must wash my hair every day. Back when I worked in the nursing home though, they used to only shower the residents every three days, and I smelled the same musty odor on my resident's heads by the third day.
Debt collectors respond: What it's like for us {WalletPop}
Feb 2nd 2010 10:10PM I had just finished college and was working as a camp counselor. At the time my father had just been diagnosed with cancer. He was terminally ill, and although he was receiving disability from his job it wasn't enough to cover my mother's bills, so I was giving her what I earned at the camp. When I spoke to the debt collector from SEARS, I explained my situation, pledging that once I found a real full time job I'd catch up on the debt. (Let me just state, for the record, that what I owed was a joke. I was maybe three hundred dollars behind..they acted like I owed them 100,000). This extremely nasty woman got on the phone and gleefully told me that the reason my father was dying was because he had such a horrible, dishonest daughter that did not pay her bills. You know, I believe was goes around comes around, so if there's any justice in the world that nasty, evil woman will die in pain and suffering the same way my father did. Of course, that would be saying that my father must have done something wrong to suffer so maybe I should settle for her burning someplace hot in the next life.
Life Too Good? Sell Your House. {Housingwatch}
Jan 30th 2010 12:50PM They took $800,000 from her college fund and it didn't wipe that fund out? I went to college for $44,000 total. I guess Hannah's not going to a state school.
Why Jay Leno and David Letterman Hate Each Other {PopEater}
Jan 28th 2010 10:49AM NBC is making a big mistake here. They need to put Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon back in charge.
Conan O'Brien: Divorce from NBC is Ugly and "Crazy Expensive" {Luxist}
Jan 22nd 2010 5:33PM I'm relieved that Conan did not actually spend all that money and it's just a joke. All I could think of when I began reading this story was about the earthquake victims in Haiti, and the victims of our own recession, and this man is blowing all this money on nothing. Thankfully it's not true.
Weight Watchers sues Jenny Craig for misleading ads: Let the mudslinging begin {WalletPop}
Jan 20th 2010 5:02PM I've lost sixty five pounds in the last year from Weight Watchers. I honestly think it's the only program that really works. Jenny Craig, Nutrasystem, and their ilk all use prepackaged food which removes all choice from your life. Once you lose all the weight you need to on these programs, you stop eating their packaged food and return to your old eating habits, because you've never learned new ones. Weight Watchers actually teaches you how to plan healthful meals using your own ingredients, incorporate exercise into your life, and modify your lifestyle to keep the weight off, which is the hardest part of weight loss. If Kirstie Alley is any indication, the minute you go off Jenny Craig the pounds come right back on like iron filings to a magnet.
Vince Gill, Amy Grant Open Up on Marriage and Divorce {The Boot}
Jan 10th 2010 2:58PM Yeah I was thinking the same thing, what are they really saying? They seem to be talking in circles.
