Jul 29th 2009 7:41AM I think a lot of these articles are incorrect. They may be speaking of pay for Principles/Assistant Principles because most teachers, regardless of the state, do not start off making that much. And a lot of teachers have gotten laid off in many states.
Also I would like to add, some of you act like we made you become teachers. And thats the problem with the education system today. When I was in school, we had real teachers, teachers who cared about students learning, and our parents were not called for every little thing we did. Today we have 22 year olds teaching our children, who are just collecting pay checks and could care less if the students are learning, especially those students who may also have disciplinary problems. My niece was hanging out with her 23 year old teacher after school, along with a bunch of other kids. I'm not saying all teachers are like this, but a lot of the 2009/2010 teachers could care less if our children are learning anything. Bottom line, no one is making anyone go into this profession. And some of the older ones are the same way, just receiving a pay check. There are good teachers, but they get overlooked because of the ones who aren't.
