Career Changers Choose Teaching {Careers Articles - Online Degrees}
Apr 23rd 2012 12:39PM Be careful idealizing teaching as a career where you are free to use your intelligence and creativity daily. I found that recently there is a huge push to get teachers to memorize delivery from a teaching "manual" and, in the name of consistency, all classrooms were to "look alike" as far as material and methodology. I resisted this for a few years then retired in frustration. In my early years of teaching I enjoyed the free flow of creativity. I was encouraged to be creative, innovative, and to practice teaching as an art rather than a science. Much has been lost in recent years.

May 26th 2011 6:22PM I agree with this method of responding to a child. All children should be raised without gender bias and with an open field of choice, including freedom to learn what making a good decision is and how to determine if it's best for oneself or only for others. "Harm" as it appears to be the fear of some, actually is only stereotype-busting which likely will lead to open-mindedness and a true sense of self. "Harm" might mean an unlikely outcome which many are terrified of and actually see as against their own hoped for outcomes. This is a very self-centered and self-serving attitude. Embrace change, embrace diversity and trust that there is a vision greater than your own; there is a plan more wondrous than your vision.

Dec 29th 2010 7:22PM Obama was a favorite president of mine until he chose to side with Michael Vick. My opinion is basically "no count" but I think this thing is bigger than he may realize. Dogs are one of God's greatest gifts to mankind, and no one should be forgiven for allowing them harm.
