The Great Typo Hunt -- Two Friends Correct Grammar Across the USA {Asylum}
Aug 19th 2010 4:31PM Has anyone noticed that more and more (and I'm having a hell of a time trying to express this) "The family are" instead of expressing "the family" as a singular unit and saying "The family is" or "the group" is. Did I miss some grammatical ruling that changed?
Oh well, I'm a musician. What do I know?
Really Tough Journalism -- We Hit the Duncan Hines Cupcake Challenge {Lemondrop}
Aug 5th 2010 10:02PM Do you have to be vegan to eat vegan cake? I eat vegan cake, but I'm not anywhere near vegan or vegetarian. I'm allergic to milk, so that's an easy way for me to tell if something has no milk. If it's vegan, it has no milk. Maybe she's allergic to milk. Which, come to think of it, is a coincidence, because Duncan Hines' brownie mix doesn't have any milk ingredients in it, so it's a favorite for those of us who are allergic to milk. But I digress...
Paging Demi -- Why Most Women Wouldn't Date Ashton Kutcher {Lemondrop}
Jul 29th 2010 8:26PM I like him. I'd date him. I'd take him to an amusement park. I think he's a cute kid, and I don't care if YOU think he can't act, he does have potential. But, believe me, he's pulling in a buck or two from his commercial residuals. His time is coming. Late bloomer. Move over Demi...There's a new cougar in town! (Just kidding, but I do think he'll fool us all with his talent). Give him another 10 years of life experience.
Girl Scouts Enlists Plus-Size Models for Body Image PSA {Stylelist}
Jul 28th 2010 10:45AM Those models are a "healthy weight," but it still doesn't reach those few who might be a little fatter, who just merely haven't shed their baby fat or grown to their adult height. I am a fat adult who after bariatric surgery and having been on every diet in the universe has accepted that I will be so for the rest of my life. When I was "Girl Scout aged" I was called 'fatty" and "fatso" and "Crisco" (fat in the can), and yet I was 5' tall and 90 lbs. This is a very complicated issue. And it's sad that young girls are sort of caught in the middle. If you haven't seen it, try to find the HBO documentary called "Thin."
Chelsea Clinton Wedding Inspires Tacky Gift (From a Prime Minister) {Lemondrop}
Jul 23rd 2010 11:18AM Cultural Differences...hand beaded=took a long time to make...picture=memory of a pleasant occurance...semi-precious stones=display of being worthy friend. There are differences in culture. I have to admit, I don't have the appreciation for Asian/Oriental art. Don't know why.
But, it was a nice gesture (sp?) And she isn't likely to get a duplicate.
(Actually, to me it's along the lines of the velvet clowns/Elvises of the 60's, but what do I know?? :)
I'd Never Heard Of 'Billy The Exterminator,' and Then I Watched It {AOL TV}
Jul 18th 2010 1:04PM How much money we talkin' about here? I could use a bridge.
Everyone has his or her own opinion. You're certainly welcome to yours. I certainly learned about using Pyrethrin to kill bugs and to vacuum them up with a vacuum with a HEPA filter, and it was a great solution because it didn't hurt any of my pets.
So, you might say the show is stupid, but if you open your mind a little you might just learn something. (Oh, and if you've never lived in a steamy trailer in Louisiana or other southern state where it's humid, go try it sometime. You'll have thousands of "pets" to keep you company!
I'd Never Heard Of 'Billy The Exterminator,' and Then I Watched It {AOL TV}
Jul 18th 2010 12:52PM I was wondering if someone had remembered that Vexcon was introduced on "Dirty Jobs." Billy and Mary were not married at the time they appeared with Mike Rowe. But I'm faithful to Billy and Vexcon. They have taught me more things about "critters" and how to get rid of pesky critters without hurting my own critters. And, they are so damned entertaining anyway. I recently watched a BTE marathon and there were episodes I'd already seen, but I didn't care. It was fun to watch for the second time!
Jesse Jackson: Cavs Owner Has 'Slave Master Mentality' About LeBron James {Fanhouse NBA Blog}
Jul 12th 2010 6:50PM Amen! I just moved to the Cleveland area (from Chicago), and all they could really say was they felt "betrayed." And I don't blame the coach. Mr. Jackson's problem right now is, nobody's really listening to him anymore. As was said in a movie "Lie down, old fella! You're dead and you just don't know it! (BTW: What the heck ever happened to his side-kick Al Sharpton?)
Maggots Force US Airways Flight to Return to Gate in Atlanta {AOL Travel News}
Jul 1st 2010 9:36AM So...will there be a sequel to "Snakes on a Plane?"
Teenie Tiny Snakes On A Plane: Attack of the Maggots!"
Donna Summer has a beef with Wendy's after it pulls Disco Fever CD {WalletPop}
Jun 20th 2010 9:00AM Gee...as many times as I've danced to that song (it was usually the last song at closing at all the discos) I honestly do not remember the words "I'm so horny" Are they sure they're hearing it right? Maybe I need to clean out my ears...
