American Muslim Groups Condemn Fort Hood Shootings {Politics Daily}

Nov 7th 2009 10:21AM Jeffrey:
You are soooo last millenium--I believe that Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas Freidman was correct some YEARS ago and YEARS after 9/11 in asking why no Muslim organization had issued a fatwah against those who orchestrated and carried out 9/11.
He pointed out how quickly the Muslim world had issued fatwahs against S. Rushdie for "The Satanic Verses" which killed no one.
Now, we must take the high road--no doubt about it--but let us not leave the world of reality behind as you have seemed to do.

Jeffrey: believe me I can handle believing that the Muslim faith as practiced by many lent some support to this tortured individual's mind in this horrific act and still believe that I live in a pluralistic society and MUST treat everyone with respect.
You apparently cannot.

The Obamas' Marriage Isn't So Special {Lemondrop}

Nov 5th 2009 3:29PM very much appreciated your story--we need to hear more like it in this day and age

Maine Voters' Rejection of Gay Marriage Will Delay Activists' Day in Court {Sphere Lite}

Nov 5th 2009 10:53AM What is never reported as far as I know and I listen to NPR constantly, read Atlantic etc. etc. is a comparison between the income of gay couples and that of heterosexual couples.

The last figure that I recall was a $10,000.00 advantage to gay couples--who are unlikely except for taxes to carry the extreme responsibility of bringing to life and raising the next generation.

As a matter of Darwinian Evolution I am opposed to gay marriage, though in favor of treating gays as decently as possible.

About "don't ask, don't tell." Wouldn't that also apply to a heterosexual in the military? Am I to understand that heterosexuals are revealing their sex life constantly?

The Softer Side of Michelle Malkin: Who Knew? {Politics Daily}

Sep 25th 2009 7:34AM Alex: you made my point exactly, thank you. The writer conflates death threats with disagreement--something I am sure she would never do for herself. More than a bit hypocritical I believe.

Thomas Friedman: Be brave U.S. -- tax gasoline more {BloggingStocks}

Sep 23rd 2009 2:09PM Mr. Friedman is absolutely correct:

We are our own Benedict Arnolds shipping needlessly billions and over the years trillions of dollars to nations that do not reflect our values--and even fund our enemies.

The health care elephant in the room: Medicare {Daily Finance}

Aug 25th 2009 1:13PM ptm: they still die, what you are saying is that private insurance (oops, it isn't insurance is it?) simply offloads the responsibility to the government.

Also, those on Medigap pay big money for private insurance, some of it a rip-off.

They still die.

The health care elephant in the room: Medicare {Daily Finance}

Aug 25th 2009 12:42PM In my opinion the article is way too simple-minded. First he uses the example of "every home burning down" and then he allows that not all houses will burn down because some will die before receiving an Medicare benefits.

What he seems to be advocating is rationing--keep health care costs down by pulling the plug on dear old dad; except the author is too disingenuous to say so.

Keep in mind all the customers of private insurance companies die at some point too--he failed to mention that big one.

Very poorly written article.

Let's Tax Fast Food for Health Care Savings {BV Black Spin}

Jun 16th 2009 10:19AM To Sue:

Your posting betrays ignorance. Do not lump Canada and Britain's health systems together. In Britain as far as I am aware doctors etc are employees of the government--true socialized medicine. In Canada doctors operate as self-employed but with payments coming from the government. There is a difference.

Now, as far as "failures" go: Canadians absolutely love their government-run system. It has far less rationing than our failed private sector system.

44,000,000 plus without insurance is a grotesque form of rationing. I have relatives in both countries--my American ones are just as much told which hospital they can go to and whether the treatment will be covered as my Canadian ones.

One difference: Canada spends 7% of GDP on health care, we spend 15% and rising. Now tell me that government cannot be more efficient!!!
