Girl, 4, Faces Negligence Charges, Judge Gives Suit the OK {ParentDish}

Nov 3rd 2010 6:49AM Throwing a flower pot off a balcony shows a complete lack of discipline and supervision- in that case, of course the parents would be liable. These kids were riding their BIKES, and as anyone who actually HAS children will tell you, when the child is at play they are in their own little world. And since riding a tricycle is appropriate and acceptable play for our little ones, this should not be an issue.
I'm beginning to wonder if we are all missing the point this judge is trying to make here...could his exhoneration of the parents in this case be a signal to the plaintiff's attorney that he should drop a ludicrous suit agains a 4 year-old child? Hmmm...

Oct 31st 2010 9:00AM The childrens' mothers were exhonerated from any liability- only the CHILD is being charged. To what end? What will this child be expected to recompense? And all the things you mentioned as happening to the "victim"'s family- these are (most likely) all things that would have eventually taken place anyway in the due course of time. Isn't it possible that many of the hardships you mentioned have already been taking place and the family is looking for a way out with a frivolous lawsuit?

Oct 30th 2010 12:26PM When I was a kid (and I'm only 47 now) nobody would have even entertained the thought of such lawsuit- as everyone ahead of me has stated already, "accidents happen". I'm curious as to what end this all will come to- what can the "victim"'s estate possibly hope to accomplish? What could the child's appropriate "punishment" be? Maybe an extended time-out in Riker's Island is in order...

Mark Sanchez Poised to Snatch New York Spotlight From Eli Manning {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Aug 17th 2010 6:25AM Does Shaun O'Hara have a problem with Eli Manning ? Dind't he seem a little backhanded with his comments about the hit or is it just me ?

Giveaway: Appaman Backpacks {ParentDish}

Aug 10th 2010 6:38AM I had a favorite bookbag when I was in grammar school - it looked like a grown-up's briefcase and I loved it because it made feel like I was a grown-up going to my job at "the office" (wherever that was) instead of a kid going to school !

Opinion: Right to Die Billboard Sends the Wrong Message {ParentDish}

Jul 18th 2010 9:46AM Anyone who doesn't believe that the whole idea of euthanasia is a product of Big Insurance is really kidding themselves. I have worked in the health insurance industry for over 20 years and it disgusts me to see how many people are talked into "ending the suffering" and "pulling the plug". This continues to send a message that elderly and/or terminally ill patients are useless and should do society a favor by ending thier lives. Nobody wins with death (except the health insurance that doesn't haver to pay for ongoing treatment anymore). Whatever happened to HOPE? Have we become so jaded as a society that we encourage people to give up?

Christian medical-bill sharing a growing trend {WalletPop}

Jun 26th 2010 9:36AM I've been working with health insurance for the past 20+ years for a medical suuply company and I find it odd that I have NEVER heard of this, not once. I'm certainly not saying that I've seen it all, because whenever I do say that I'm always surprised, but I'm always suspicious of something that claims to work so well for so many years but I've never gotten wind of...my logic therefore brings me to the conclusion that since I work in supplying already sick people with the tools they need to live at home with an illness, perhaps this type of medical coverage really doesn't apply if you're actually sick and need it...I don't know that to be true, but as I said, I'm suspicious...perhaps it's just a geographical thing- is this type of medical coverage not common on the east coast?

Top 10 Wedding Love Songs {AOL Radio Blog}

Apr 30th 2010 6:43AM "In My Life" by the Beatles...an Italian wedding band performed it at our wedding and I was surprised they could pull it off! But I still play it for my husband every year on our anniversary.

Court Grants Parents Permission to Sterilize 11-Year-Old {ParentDish}

Mar 10th 2010 7:51PM Having gone throgh "chemical menopause" as a result of chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer, I can honestly say "yes- it is very difficult physically" to live through the symptoms of menopause. However, just as debilitating are the emotional side effects, which this child will never (thankfully) have to experience. If the proceedeure lessens the detremental effects of the seizure disorder this child is suffering through, then it is wotth the risk. My sister-in-law has Down Syndrome, and I can tell you it is no picnic taking care of a handicapped child. I applaud this child's parents for taking the necessary steps to make this poor little soul's brief stay here on earth a little more bearable.

Stalk This Way: Creeps Getting Tech-Savvy {Lemondrop}

Jul 25th 2009 9:08AM I was stalked by an ex-boyfriend. I took my answering machine tapes and photos of what he had done to my aprtment & had a restraining order placed on him. All he had to do was break that order one time and he would be arrested- it's out of your hands at that point. You don't have to press charges- if the stalker breaks the restraining order, the police have to arrest him- no questions asked. Don't be fooled if you are being stalked- get aggressive and get the stalker off your back.
