Ramen Noodle Recipes for College Campus Cooking {Kitchen Daily}
Aug 14th 2010 4:55PM Have I missed something? While the various uses of ramen are interesting to read, I think someone has missed the point. If you can afford to buy all those fancy ingredients to make ramen "better", you can obviously afford to buy real food, so why are you eating ramen? Scampi? Sesame oil? Miso and arugula?
Confessions of a Bitter-Ender: In Praise of Movie End Credits {Moviefone Blog}
Aug 8th 2010 11:24AM I too am a bitter-ender for several reasons. With the price of a movie ticket these days, you'd better believe I'm staying till the credits stop rolling-I paid for it! If the ushers want to clean up they can wait until the movie is completely over-otherwise why not just start cleaning in the middle of the movie-is it about their convenience? I think not-and ushers get paid by the hour, not the task.
The other biggest reason is just as the article said-outtakes, bloopers, the "Real" ending, and the music! I remember when I saw Kevin Smiths movie "Dogma" in the theater-after a wonderful and thoughtful romp ala-Jay & Silent Bob, I was LITERALLY nailed to my seat by the entrancing song "Still" by Alanis Morriset. The melody and lyrics were so beautiful, especially on the theater sound system-I wouldn't have missed that for anything! The ushers may have heard it six times that day-oh well, I only got to hear it once, but it has stayed with me all this time from that experience. After that? Buddy, you can clean up the spilled popcorn after the lights come up!
Ann Coulter Vs. 'The View's' Joy Behar {Politics Daily}
Feb 20th 2009 10:31AM Anne Coulter-Don't you think she looks tired?
Backlash against Kellogg's: would legalizing marijuana be good for the economy? {WalletPop}
Feb 11th 2009 1:08PM I have worked, paid my taxes, raised my kids (who are both grown, contributing WORKING memebers of society), and smoked pot every day of my life since the age of 14. I do not jones on sleazy street corners, have never even come CLOSE to overdosing (how would one DO that?), and have never been arrested. What does one say about a person like me?
That I am part of a silent majority of people who do the same, but are too afraid to admit it because of the social and economic stigma. Doctors, lawyers, professionals in every segment of society-we sit quietly in our homes and enjoy a natural substance that is less toxic than tobacco, alchohol, an many household cleaners!
Besides all that, what do stoners eat when they get the munchies? A lot of Kellogs cerails, for one thing? What if all the stoners out there decided to eat Twinkies instead of Frosted Flakes, out of protest for Michael Phelps? BANKRUPTCY, thats what!

Potent Quotables: Rufus on Rights {Spinner}
Dec 26th 2008 3:13PM What about all the marriages of straight couples where one or both partners are infertal? What about an 80 year old marrying his or her loved one? No procreation involved there! Or what about remarriage after menopause? Are any of these examples invalid simply because the union doesn't produce children? Procreation has nothing to do with marriage-just ask any single mother (by choice or otherwise)!
The Economy's Latest Victim: Women Give Up Health Care {Lemondrop}
Nov 9th 2008 12:43AM Yomama-my reply to you is 'YO' MAMA!" Spare me your sanctimonious crap! I don't expect ANYONE to "take care" of me or mine. You seem to imply that I'm wishing for something that I don't deserve. I have worked all my life, been a member of the Armed Forces of this (formerly and hopefully will be again) great country, paid my taxes AND my own way! I think that entitles me to want a country that cares about the health of its citizens rather than just how many tax dollars they can get out of us!
And as for your dietary deletions-who gives a rats ass? Your probably lying, and I doubt you have a CLUE how much of the stuff you "gave up" is on your plate every day-try reading a lable! I don't need anyone advising me to give up salt, sugar, wheat products, milk, breathing, or eating in order to live a better life. I, and a LOT of other people, need a government who CARES as much about its citizens as it does about policing the rest of the planet!
The Economy's Latest Victim: Women Give Up Health Care {Lemondrop}
Nov 8th 2008 4:19PM From the trenches-here I sit with a husband who has multiple disabilities-both mental and physical. He is on SSD, but won't qualify for Medicaid or Medicare (not even sure which one, nobody's actually offering any info!) until 24 months after he qualified for Disability-so he waits until December 2009! Meanwhile, we have NO health insurance and he is currently hospitalized with acute toxicity from one of his medications AND double pneumonia! I haven't seen a doctor or dentist in years and pray I won't get sick. We have no resources, a 19 year old car, and lots of medical bills. When will this end? Why is health care in this country an INDUSTRY that expects to be profitiable, rather than something that every person in this country should have unlimited access to?
Mabey that sound like Socialism to some Nervous Nellies out there-I bet they don't have to sweat over choosing to get (a) groceries, (b) gas for their car, or (c) some prescription medication that they cannot do without. As for me, bring on Socialized medicine! I bet most Canadian have never been faced with the kind of medical choices that Americans are faced with, because Canadian health care is not based on the ability to pay.
As for those who dismisively point out that there are "programs" to take care of people like us, I guess the point that the poor don't need dignity or privacy could be made. So why don't YOU go fill out multiple forms about how you spend your money and whether or not you are either "Deserving Poor", or just "Indigent" (translation: lazy).
'Battlefield Earth' and Other Favorites {AOL Elections Blog}
May 8th 2007 9:30PM Stranger In A Strange Land, by Robert A. Heinlein is my "desert island" book. Having read and reread it repeated since my initial introduction in high school, I find it an amazingly erudite commentary on sexuality, religion, and human nature. I reccomend it to all, especially those with closed minds that need opening.
