Opinion: What's Up With All These Out-of-Control, Bullying Parents? {ParentDish}

Feb 24th 2011 9:40PM OOPS! Big oops! I meant my "children are very respectful... ", not "my parents." Of course they were too.

Opinion: What's Up With All These Out-of-Control, Bullying Parents? {ParentDish}

Feb 24th 2011 9:36PM This is hardly child abuse. As a parent, I'm sick of feeling bullied by my own. I wish I had spanked instead of time-out. My parents are very respectful of other adults and friends' families but at home they feel they can do as they please. God forbid we try to stand up in our own homes without being told we are abusing our children.

When will we be allowed to actually parent our children without being criticized for every move. I wish I had never read any of the "parenting" books.

Leading Experts Rethinking Food Allergy Causes {ParentDish}

Feb 11th 2011 7:13PM I nursed my three children - no formula at all.
Child #1 - 100% breastmilk for first 4 months then gradually added cereal and then other foods. Whole milk from 12 months unil he turned two then 1%. No allergies.

Child #2 - Nursed for 18 months - attempted foods at around 4-5 months but she did not want them. I stopped nursing by nineteen months and switched her to soy milk. She was really late with food - maybe between 9-10 months if I remember correctly.

Child #3 - Nursed for fifteen months, until she was in the hospital and I had to stop. She started with food a little earlier than the others because I had a harder time nursing. No allergies.

Also - for all three, no meat, fish, chicken but yes on eggs and dairy products.
They are all healthy but we have recently discovered the root of my #2 child's stomach problems is lactose intolerance. We moved across the country when she was ten, then moved again when she was 11.5 and just assumed it was the stress of moving. She is also a perfectionist so we figured it was just due to her self-imposed stress. One of her friends suggested she stop milk and other dairy products. Voila! So far that seems to have been the problem. Fortunately eggs are not actually dairy products so we still have that as a source of protein.

If anyone has any good suggestions for lactose free foods, please comment!

Puerto Rican funeral home presents shooting victim on his motorcycle [w/video] {Autoblog}

Apr 28th 2010 4:24PM Unfortunately the vision of my father in his casket haunts me. The only times I saw him dressed up were at my wedding and his funeral. If he was buried in his everyday clothes and his silly cap, it would be easier.

L.L. Bean's new Signature line: The preppy look gets a risky makeover {WalletPop}

Mar 27th 2010 8:23AM Same clothes, different models. Not sure why people in Maine feel the need to all wear LLBean clothing except because they want to look like clones. I've been here for just a few years and still don't feel the need... boring, boring, boring...

Girl Scouts Distribute Planned Parenthood Sex Guide at United Nations Meeting {ParentDish}

Mar 18th 2010 9:39PM I was a Girl Scout and got my first birth control pills at Planned Parenthood. I have three children and have been with my husband since I was 18 and are about to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. I learned much worse from my Catholic school girl friends. It's what we learn inside our home that teaches us right and wrong.

Also, read the title of the document; "A young person's guide to their rights, sexuality and living with HIV." Clearly this was not aimed at the Girl Scouts, nor is the article written by someone who actually attended the meeting. Keep in mind, the Girl Scouts are not the only teens or young adults in attendance.
