Consumer Complaints Against DIRECTV lead to $14 million Settlement {WalletPop}
Dec 15th 2010 10:36AM If you live in their area, the only way to go is BRIGHT HOUSE. Have had them for years. They offer a program wherein you can "bundle" your phone, cable TV and the Internet for no more than it would cost to each one individually. The service is great -- to charges for calls. They appear within hours of your call. They service all three of the systems at no charge. They will come in and check your equipment at your request. No contracts. If you go away for a while you can shut everything off for a small fee and they will come back and set again -- no charge. They have great technicians. Sometimes they can even solve your problems over the phone. No holes in your roof to set and will come and install your new HDTV. Great!!
What the Proposed Social Security Reform Might Mean for You {WalletPop}
Nov 22nd 2010 11:03AM No cost-of-living increases in Social Security payments for this year and next. Someone should check the current "cost of living changes" in the supermarket. While the crooks in Washington and the federal employees (who are already overpaid) get raises, those of us who put our faith in what was touted as a "retirement investment" find ourselves living below the poverty line. The Government should start by putting back into the "lock box" the billions of dollars which have been STOLEN by them over the years.
OJ Simpson Trial at 15: A Legacy of Bad DNA, Beard Strokes, Bruno Magli Shoes {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Oct 4th 2010 2:16PM The key -- the bloody glove -- "If it does not fit you must acquit." This was ridiculous. If you have ever had a pair of kid gloves and they got wet they would never fit again. It happened to me. Gloves left in the rain - could never get them on again. They loose their softness and stiffen up.
Should Planes Get Family-Only Sections? {AOL Travel News}
Aug 25th 2010 9:16PM I have had flights where the back of my seat kept getting kicked. I do not think that is the child's fault. It is difficult for an active child to be comfined to a seat for hours at a time. I blame the parents -- especially the ones who give you a nasty look if you ask that the child be stopped from kicking the seat in front. It communicates to the child that what he/she is doing is okay -- it's that cranky passenger in the seat being kicked.
Is Someone You Love a High-Functioning Alcoholic? {That's Fit Canada}
Aug 9th 2010 4:31PM Met a neighbor once who became a close friend. At first it was not evident that she was an alcoholic. When we went on vacation one year, we left the keys to our house with her. After our return we were plannng a party and my husband said he checked our liquor cabinet and did not have nearly as much as we thought. We did not get it. Guess it really came to us when we were on vacation with her and her family, and she asked me at 8:00AM if I would mind if she made a martini. One time at her home we realized that she had a martini in the kitchen, one in the living room and one at the family bar. When she had to stop drinking we found that all of her charm and personality came from a bottle. The friendship ended. She went back to alcohol but it was too late. She died after minor surgery since it seemed she had destroyed her internal organs. It was very sad.

Job Scam: The Russians are Coming to Dupe the Unemployed {AOL Jobs}
Aug 5th 2010 12:45AM Once had an email that said the electronics equipment I had ordered was being to sent to someone in California and would be charged to my Pay Pal account. I notified Pay Pal and forwarded the email. The problem for the person who tried to stick me for almost $400. was that I DO NOT HAVE A PAY PAL ACCOUNT. I never open emails unless I know the sender. Another was supposedly from my bank telling me they had to update the information relating to my account and asked that I send my Social Security Number, account numbers, etc. I forwarded the letter to my bank and ignored the email. They had done a good job duplicating the banks official stationery, but I never give information over the Internet and my bank does not request this kind of information by email.
'I Bad-mouthed My Mother-in-Law on a Blog -- Then She Found Out' {Lemondrop}
Aug 3rd 2010 1:40AM I had a wonderful, loving and caring mother-in-law. She was also a terrific gandmother to my children. I now have a beautiful, caring, thoughtful daughter-in-law. We are close and she is another daughter to me. She loves my son, and he loves her. They are a great couple. I know I can confide in her -- and she listens. When I visit she always makes me feel comfortable. We spend time shopping together and I enjoy her company. I am blessed --- and so is my son. They are so fortunate that they found her -- and so am I.
Chelsea Clinton Wedding Inspires Tacky Gift (From a Prime Minister) {Lemondrop}
Jul 23rd 2010 6:48AM This is a work of art, and may be a customary gift from a particular nation. Rike is right -- a little appreciation here. It probably meant a lot to the giver. Many people get wedding gifts they would not have chosen for themselves, but common courtesy demands that the giver is thanked and not derided.According to the description this is comprised of semi-precious jewels. The Clintons probably would have liked it to have been made of diamonds. Perhaps the giver is not aware of the Clintons' love of "registries."
