Jun 21st 2011 6:35PM Lydia: I do agree with some of your comments; however, you do not need to beat a child to leave marks. Try smacking an adult on the arm. Red marks! The grandmother could have overreacted. I'd like to give the judge the benefit of the doubt (having not see the pictures of the abuse the child incurred), however, his comments that "spanking children is illegal" is wrong. I'd like to see case law and statutes on that one. Spanking a two-year old (who already knows right from wrong) is not problematic. If you start early (before the terrible twos) teaching children and giving them a swat or two on the diaper, that's good parenting. This poor lady has now lost her children to one act. That's more than wrong.

Jun 21st 2011 6:24PM This is exactly what is wrong with the kids today. They completely lose their mind when they're told the word "No" and spanking is illegal. No wonder this world is in such a mess. This judge's ruling is wrong. Plain and simple.

It's funny how you think that the "right-wing media" has an "oh-so-0BVIOUS smear campaign against the current administration," and that the conservatives swallow what they're told. The media is liberal. Fact. The only media that can even be close to being thought of as conservative is foxnews. And, they're more middle of the road. Historically, and still, the right wing (or slightly right of center) conservatives are the ones who are actually doing the thinking in this country. The liberals are the ones who have been believing everything that the liberals in power are spewing. I am a conservative and do not believe everything that anyone says. I make up my own mind. I can't believe people actually thought that Barack Obama was really going to keep any of his campaign promises (which he has not). He has lied over and over. I don't agree totally with everything Bush did. I do think he was a much more honest person than Obama.

You say: "Has over-exposure to visual meida turned an entire section of American citizens into BRAIN-DEAD zombies?!" Yes, of course it has. The main person getting media coverage today is Obama. He's on TV, giving speeches, in articles, in magazines, newspapers, and on more appointments than Bill Clinton and George Bush put together at this point in their Presidency.

I do not sit in fear of any "black Muslim" or white Muslim for that matter. I think it's awesome thath a black man was elected President. I do believe he's a socialist and is trying to invoke socialist policies on the US - i.e., national healthcare. Yes, Republicans lost. So what? I don't care whether the republicans won or lost, the best person for the job should have been selected, though.

I think it's funny that you think the right wing "is trying to find fault in every little thing [Obama] does". I actually laughed out loud at your comment. The left wing tried to blame Bush for Hurricane Katrina for God's sake. Don't start pointing fingers at the right wing or the middle. It's the left wing in this country that is its downfall. Less government meddling in my business is what I want. I have gotten off my skinny backside and done all kinds of things, contributing a lot of productive work. You need to go back to school, read a little more about Hitler, and his rise to power. It was not about the Jews. He didn't make Germany hate Jews. He tried to convince his countrymen that everyone else in the world was wrong and that Germany had been wronged by the entire world. Go back and look at the Versailles treaty. Hitler did manipulate the masses, but not to hate Jews. He was responsible for that one by himself with his generals. His czars, if you will. There was a common enemy he wanted to get rid of--everyone else, not just the Jews. Research how many other nationalities died at his hands. It wasn't just the Jews.

Jul 29th 2009 7:54AM You know, what Colin Powell was talking about is not racial "profiling." That's just disbelief that a black person can do something like NSA. I am a white woman and have been subjected to the same types of things. People see me and automatically think that I can't be or do certain things because I'm a white woman. So what? Live with it. I'm sick to death of people of all colors discussing racial profiling like it really is a problem in this country. It is not. The only people who are having difficulty with racial profiling are people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who would be out of a job if they didn't keep this subject alive.

7-year-old goes on zoo rampage {ParentDish}

Oct 5th 2008 6:02PM Hi Jenni and everyone else: This may be a serial killer in the making, however, one thing no one has said here is that a human life is far more important than the animal life. Yes, the zoo should be reimbursed for their loss, by the parents who were apparently not watching their child. But, this one incident does not mean that the child is incorrigible. The kid needs help. The parents probably have needed help with him before this. One final note, if one of the animals was drowning and the child was drowning, which one would you save?
