Breastfeeding - How Long is Too Long? {ParentDish}
Feb 28th 2009 11:08PM It SHOULD be between the parent and child but what you must realize is that it simply is not. Breastfeeding a child past the age of three means that child is consciously aware that they are breastfeeding, they will have memory of it, and they will be in a very very small minority if it extends past that. They could wind up being ashamed about it, hide it from thereselves and others, resent their mother for it, all sorts of issues could arise. Is it right that this happens? Probably not but society has set norms on how long you breastfeed a child and when you go outside of those norms you cannot expect people to be understanding or nonjudgmental about it.

Bathroom Cameras a Good Thing, Says School {ParentDish}
Feb 3rd 2009 10:21PM "Invasion of privacy" doesn't apply here. There are doors on the bathrooms, no one is looking at the students in an inappropriate way, the school has all right to put cameras whereever they please besides the locker room and the bathroom stalls. In the bathroom, aimed on the sinks, is no ones concern. The only people who get all hyped up and pissed off about security cameras are people who are afraid of them. There is nothing to be afraid of if you aren't doing something wrong. If the schools put cameras in the students homes, cars, bookbags...yeah that is an invasion of privacy. Students don't have a right to privacy aside from the times they are changing or actually going to the bathroom at school. They don't have a right to hide things. Let them put cameras wherever they want. If you aren't messing around when you shouldn't be, it won't affect you.
Annoying, Offensive TV Commercials, Part 4 {Lemondrop}
Feb 1st 2009 6:18PM I think those swiffer commercials are hilarious. So does everyone I know really. It was a cute idea and its a better way to market than some bland commercial where some lady cleans everything in her house. Its catchy, its cute, and if you didn't like it, you didn't like it. I think emailing a company about how "stupid" their commercial is is pretty unnecessary. Its not offensive to anyone, you're entitled to your opinion but I think you're overreacting.
N.Y. Baker Makes Racist Cookies, Threatens President {Lemondrop}
Jan 24th 2009 11:26PM While I'm not racist or prejudice, there is nothing this man has done that violates the law. As far as ethically, yeah, he's a dick but unfortunately that's not illegal. People make offensive products ALL the time. People will slam the president for any reason, no president has been immune to it. I don't see news stories about companies that make offensive dolls and keychains and whatnot. This man is a moron, I will give you that, but unfortunately nothing can be done about it. We just have to let stuff like this go and move on.
Starbucks wants YOU to volunteer (free coffee!) {WalletPop}
Jan 17th 2009 6:39AM Whether you personally voted for, or against, Barack Obama is not the point. The point is, he's the president of the United States and he wants a stronger commitment to community service. Because community service needs support and is generally a good idea, Starbucks is putting their effort in...not because they are trying to rub Obama in your face people. You can't go against every idea he has because you don't agree with him being president...he is...and he will be for the next four years...so get over it and volunteer to make this world a better place.
