Texas Family Wins Fight Against HOA to Keep Pet Kangaroo {AOL Real Estate}
Mar 6th 2012 4:05AM These people are using their daughter's disability as a ruse to get to keep the baby kangaroo until the wildlife park they're building is done. A red kangaroo is not a pet nor a therapy animal. The parents aren't using very good sense in letting their Down's Syndrome daughter bond with the baby kangaroo. That sweet cuddly little red kangaroo baby is going to grow into a 6 1/2 foot tall dangerous animal that will weigh 200 lbs. They have powerful tails and can disembowel with the claws on their powerful hind legs. Have they even considered how their daughter will feel when she can't play and cuddle Mike anymore?
Kangaroos are exotic not domestic animals. They have to be diapered. They're, also, social animals and miss their own kind when isolated from them. I'm not a fan of privately owned wildlife parks and zoos that take animals out of their natural environment. These people don't have the expertise of real zoos and the animals suffer. I feel sorrier for the chimp that was killed than the woman he mauled and for the lions and tigers that get killed than the private zoo owners they turned on. The HOA is being painted as the bad guys here but anyone who really thinks this kangaroo is a "therapy" animal needs a reality check. Therapy animals aren't for short term cuddling to be taken away from a special needs person when they get too big.
Bones in the Attic: Mysterious Find in Historic Home {AOL Real Estate}
Jan 20th 2012 2:05AM What will be interesting is tracing the ownership of the house, discovering who the woman hidden under the floorboards is and trying to discover who the murderer could be. Obviously, you don't put someone's body under an attic's floorboards unless there was foul play.
The Minor Threat: Age-Restricted Communities Evicting Children {AOL Real Estate}
Jan 6th 2012 3:08PM Before moving into an age restricted community, people should seriously consider if there would ever be a circumstance that could arise where they would want a child to live with them. If there is, then don't move into that community and expect them to exempt you from the rules. These stories are written to make the age-restricted communities seem cold-hearted but they're not. These communities exist because some older people don't want to contend with children. What the people who want the community to make an exception for them are actually saying is I don't want to live around any children but those who matter to me. If an apartment doesn't allow pets, people with animals know they won't be welcome. If an HOA restricts what color your house can be painted, you don't expect them to let you paint it fuschia. If you don't want to live with restrictions, don't move somewhere where restrictions will apply.
House of the Day: A Splash of Color in the Heart of Dallas {AOL Real Estate}
Dec 28th 2011 9:33PM There's nothing particularly appealing about the interior decor. It's just Mexican themed and has an overabundance of leather and wicker furniture. The grounds are quite nice but the interior would turn off most buyers since it would require a major overhaul by anyone who's not into Mexican kitsch.
Foreclosure-Plagued Nevada May Be Key Battleground in 2012 {AOL Real Estate}
Oct 17th 2011 5:48PM If the Overbys lost their union painting jobs in Las Vegas, all they need to do is look around and they'll find some illegal holding a paintbrush and working for less than union wages.
Jack Nicholson's Malibu Beach House Takes a Dive in Sale {AOL Real Estate}
Sep 30th 2011 5:16PM How big a hit did Nicholson really take? It doesn't say when he bought it or how much he paid for it.
Obama Targets Foreclosures With 'Project Rebuild' {AOL Real Estate}
Sep 12th 2011 3:58PM How is Project Rebuild going to do anything to lift the housing market out of its slump? If a property is foreclosed or abandoned and sitting on the market, it's because no one is buying even when these properties are listed at rock bottom prices. Buyers and flippers aren't buying because they don't believe the properties are worth renovating. By becoming the ultimate flipper, who is the government helping by spending $15 billion of taxpayer's money but the banks holding the mortgages?
With homeowners trying to sell their properties in buyer's market and already facing competition from bank foreclosures not in need of renovation, all they need is the government adding more marketable homes to the glut of existing homes for sale. As far as job creation, they would only be temporary since by making these homes more viable in the market now,it will take longer for the private housing market to recover and begin creating more permanent construction jobs on its own. The government created this mess by overinflating housing prices when it encouraged banks to give unqualified buyers subprime loans. The last thing the housing market needs is more government manipulation
Mom's Spanking Fuels Toddler's Aggression {ParentDish}
Jul 11th 2011 9:26PM These parenting experts who try to equate spanking with child abuse are ridiculous. I don't know of any kids who've grown up to be traumatized psychos from being spanked. It doesn't take that many times of being popped on the tail to get a child to behave. I can only remember a few times when my dad spanked me. I learned quickly to behave...no need for psychobabble. I spanked my oldest one when he got out of line and it didn''t take many spankings for him to tow the line. With my 2nd child, I lucked out and got an "angel". I don't think I spanked him more than once or twice in his life. Kids need to learn that there are consequences for their actions and a quick pop on the rear gets the message through fast. I can't see spanking a child under 2 though as they haven't developed the ability to reason. Funny, how you never see any studies on kids who are spanked and those who aren't and which ones are better behaved? Maybe because it is obvious?
What We're Trying Now: Orange Lips {Stylelist}
Jul 8th 2011 5:24AM Most women know what looks best on them. Red has never been a flattering color on me whether in lipstick or clothes. Pinks always wash me out. I've always looked best in medium to pastel toned oranges (would never be able to wear a bright orange). It doesn't matter what the "in" fashion is, if it doesn't look good on you, don't wear it.
Should Casey Anthony Pose for Playboy? {PopEater}
Jul 7th 2011 3:44AM Any TV network, book publisher,or magazine editor that would give Casey Anthony a dime for her story would just be cutting their own throats. We know Casey Anthony's story, the jury didn't acquit her because they thought she was innocent but because the prosecution didn't meet the level of proof necessary to convict. She is the most hated person in America today. Doesn't report her daughter missing for a month, goes out partying while her child is missing without a care in the world, lies and lies and lies about the child's disappearance? Only a person as sick-minded as Casey Anthony would want to see anything about her. No decent person would ever hire her or patronize a business that did. The only place most Americans want to see this woman is living in a cardboard box on the street and eating out of garbage cans.
