Mother of 'Genderless' Baby Storm Speaks Out {ParentDish}
May 31st 2011 11:29AM I don't think this has anything to do with creating a "gay" or "transgender" child...I think the mother is being remiss in helping her child to be comfortable in his or her identity. I don't think raising a child as "it" rather than "he" or "she" is the answer to anything. I think it's just adding confusion to the child's life. Yes, there are gender specific issues such as health, society and teaching the child parenting roles as he/she developes. Sorry, while this may sound cool and upcomming thinking, I think she's doing nothing but causing the children problems in the world and in their lives. While this may be okay withink their homes, what will these children face when they're old enough to go to school and be out in society? In case anyone has forgotten, children can be very cruel.
How Old Is Too Old to Wear a Miniskirt? {Stylelist}
May 13th 2011 10:08PM When I was younger, I worried about when to wear white shoes, all the currents styles, proper etiquette, etc. I am now 52 years old, I dress younger (not trashy), definitely not "old lady" stuff. I wear my hair long, highlighted, I wear heels and dangly earrings. As long as I feel comfortable and my husband likes it, I'll wear it! And you know what? When I'm 70, I may drag out the mini skirts, fish net hose and green eyeshadow, because if nothing else, I believe age gives you the right to stop caring about what other people think!
Opinion: What's Up With All These Out-of-Control, Bullying Parents? {ParentDish}
Feb 24th 2011 11:09PM Reading this and other equally liberal articles on how parents punish their children...calling anything other than letting the little darlings have their way, child abuse, I fully understand why prisons are over populated, the streets are full of unemployed, drug addicted, disrespectufl, abusive young people. I'm sure that this mother was not reacting to a single incident. I would bet that she had warned the children numerous times! Okay, so the parents are teaching the children that they need to be responsible. You break something, you pay for it..even if that means you give up something you truly treasure. I can guarantee, if I go out and wreck into someone's car, I had better either have the money on hand or sell enough things to pay for the damage or I'm going to jail. How do you think I learned to be responsible? The same way this mother is teaching her children., I applaud this mother for sticking to her guns and doing something that has got to be extremely difficult to do.
SmackDown: Would You Make Your Kid Drink Hot Sauce as Punishment? {ParentDish}
Feb 1st 2011 10:51PM You must not have children? Ignore bad behavior? So, let me see...it can become worse behavior because the first thing went un punished? If we don't discipline our children, the world will discipline our children when they become adults and I don't think it will do them any good to say that prison is psychologically damaging them! Discipline should be uncomfortable...even painful (not deadly). This is exactly what's wrong with our kids today...no one disciplines, no one teaches them respect.
Pilot Holds Plane for Grandfather Of Murdered Toddler {AOL Travel News}
Jan 14th 2011 11:12AM My heart goes out to this family! And I've got to say that I am so proud of the people who helped this grieving family. In the face of such a horrible, horrible thing, it's so wonderful that people reached out and showed kindness to this family.
I'm Pro-Boy Scouts (And Pro-Gay) {ParentDish}
Nov 26th 2010 2:07PM So, according to your statement, anyone can challenge ANY private group and make them adhere to your beliefs? Does that mean you can make Baptists, adhere to catholic beliefs? Maybe you can force liberals to adhere to conservative beliefs? Please! Isn't this what freedom of thought, religeon and speech is all about? Certain groups being able to practice their own beliefs without interferance or persecution? Or does that only apply to groups that believe what YOU believe? Aren't YOU forcing your beliefs on these groups? Who is really intolerant here?
I'm Pro-Boy Scouts (And Pro-Gay) {ParentDish}
Nov 26th 2010 1:39PM If you don't like the belief system of a group that was founded on certain religeous and moral beliefs..why don't you either find a group that shares your beliefs or found one yourself? What gives people the right to think "hey, I think all that looks like fun, but I'm going to change it to suit my needs or my belilefs" which is in effect, imposing YOUR beliefs on people in the guise of "freedom of beliefs". Why is it only freedom of beliefs if it matches YOUR beliefs?
Middle-Aged Women and Short Hair -- What Gives? {Lemondrop}
Oct 26th 2010 11:07AM I was raised in a family of beauticians too. My mother always told me that once I was married and had children, I should cut my hair off because I was too old to have long hair. Sorry, but I'm 50 and I have longer than shoulder length hair. My husband loves it and if it makes him happy? What else matters? And I'm not alone..a number of women I know who are my age are growing their hair one last time...I think women today are much younger looking and acting at 50 than they were in my grandmother's age. We're raising a 3 year old and have been thrown back into preschool, dance lessons, play dates, etc. and I try to blend in as much as possible to keep my little guy from feeling "different". And you know...I LOVE my hair!
Off-Duty Cop Puts Scare on Would-Be Romeo {ParentDish}
Sep 27th 2010 6:26PM I think if these boys parents had a lick of sense, they would've secretly THANKED this cop!!! Maybe it would keep them from becoming grandparents at a very young age..maybe it would've kept their kid from getting some sort o f STD..MAYBE it would've taught him a little respect!!! Instead they go get their 15 minutes of fame by whining about it! I'm sure the step daughter was also dealt with at home!!!! What happened to kids taking responsibility for their actions and showing repect not only to parents but to other kids? Get a life people..this namby pamby attitude is why our kids are on drugs, running in gangs, and out of control.
Scare Tactics {MyDaily}
Sep 19th 2010 12:17PM Good for this father! If parents would teach their children to be respectful in the first place, it wouldn't have to come to this. These kids don't respect authority, their parents, teachers or each other! When we were growing up, we wouldn't have even thought of acting like this towards a person with a disability and we certainly wouldn't have been caught doing something like this at school. Because if we had, we would've been paddled at school and then gotten paddled again when we got home for needing a spanking at school! What did we learn? We learned to respect people, rules and circumstances!
