Nov 24th 2010 5:43PM I hear you on that regarding the amount the students end up actually paying. Federal loans should not be at 8.5% as they are for parent plus loans nor should student with stafford loans be paying somewhere around 5 or 7%. That is the true problem, we pay taxes, we are the reason the govt. exists, we can lend the money for our young people as long as they give it back; a nominal interest rate of maybe 3% would still net a profit and make it more likely that individuals can actually pay them. Oh, and still eat.

Nov 24th 2010 5:36PM To Capability: You are a single mom; making 40k, I am going to guess that your daughters qualified for financial aid including but not limited to grants. Grants are free money that does not have to be paid back. We paid that money forceably via our taxes. My family makes too much money and the govt. says we can afford to contribute 40k a year toward college; so nada for us, but we still pay taxes, have mortgages, bills, more than one child. Stop being so smug. Also, this girl should have been advised by the "professionals" at the school as they are in the know. Parents may not always be and it doesn't mean they are bad parents.

Oct 26th 2010 3:13PM Here's the reality, in GENERAL, less enlightened women and men behave in a general way which may be construed as petty and what has become a "stereotypical" woman or man. These people are 'generally' less intelligent and operating off of the most base human instincts. Unfortunately, there are more average and below average intellects than there are superior+ so....get over it and roll with it.

It probably seems imprudent to divorce at this point but you also do not need to be in the position of feeling bad about yourself. I think you should tell your wife you intend to be open to a lover given the lack of physical relations between you two. You should however, give her the opportunity to be that lover. I would give a time table of one month; after which if you meet someone, so be it.

Jul 31st 2010 12:08PM Some of those against surgery are really ignorant, like ATM: "don't stand near fire...you may melt"? Why would you melt? It is your own skin tightened up. As to this being a message that something is wrong with the person and they need fixing, that too is stupid. Looking better makes you feel better, why else would people bath, fix their hair, dress nicely? If upon aging, your front tooth fell out, would you righteously walk around toothless and say "well at least I am natural". And as to the woman knowing about her Dr.'s schedule, she should, she researched a professional she intended to have perform surgery on her. I bet you would know what kind of experience your Heart surgeon had before submitting to a procedure. Quit being haters, open your mind. Thank God for advances in medicine and surgical procedures.

Jul 19th 2010 8:17PM More garbage in an attempt to intimidate women and instill fear. Fear that they are not good enough, fear that they should be scrambling to find a man, any man. I didn't feel like I hit my peak until (and this is just a start since I am still at my peak) about 45. Kids independent, style under control, more physically fit than I've been since 19, and the heads keep turning. Do not fall for these lies ladies, be your best and chances are you won't head down hill until you are being lowered there.

If you create the environment for bad and in fact contribute through choices, it is hard for others to empathize. It is not too late for you and in fact when you pull it out, the success will be all the sweeter as you will have overcome a formidable opponent, yourself.

Jul 1st 2010 4:59PM Hey Mr. Rick (is that right? or perhaps it is something else). For all you know, the guy dragged the woman away or she left with him fearing more abuse if she put up a fight or even worse, she is brain damaged from the abuse and may well have been incoherent. This guy did do the right thing; unfortunately he was overpowered, it was probably an instinctual response which speaks volumes for his character. Sure, if he had thought it through, he might have called for help and tried to distract the guy while not entering into a physical altercation but honestly, I bet this guy went after him, there was no safe place to stop what may have lead to a death.
