Yes AAM have a high percentage of prison population, but as we continue to learn is that some of these prisoners are in there in a unjust manner. Let's not forget the world we live in and how AA are look down on. Now instead of trying to make a person realize the current reality lets fix it!! dejohn if there were a drug dealer selling drugs on your corner would you turn them in and testifiy against them.,...Cuz that's reality and change you can believe in. How hard are you working in a black community to change a life and offer some of that intelligence to a young black teenager, and can see there is a better way outside of the dilapidated ghetto they are being raised in!!! If you are currently doing something then and only then you can tell Carolyn to stop being in denying. We need to stop thinking like a slave but never forget that we(ancestors) were once in shackles!!! My mind is heavy always regarding the state of AA but you know what, change dont happen with help, intervention, programs, stability, trust, and faith. Once people who live in the outskirts of the "ghetto" realize these situations affect us directly, you wouls see difference in what people like to think is a "black problem"...

All in the name of their GOD...I dont know what GOD you people rep but my GOD see NO COLOR and love ALL that HE created!!! Mar 31st 2011 1:42AM If you are a true lover of art, whether it be music, painting, film, dance, and/or any other form of Art (free expression) then you would not resign on the color of the artist skin!!! There's so much racial commentary that people dont see past their own BS!!! With that being said minorities (not just blacks) have it hard in this caucasian driven society!!! But people look at yourselves in the mirror and ask "Do I love me and those that represent me first?" If you can't honestly answer that question without a biased statment then you are part of the problem!!! This goes for anyone that makes a blatant statement such as..."I hate (black women(men); white women(men) latina/os) because.......!" if so....you are the HATE MONGER!!

Mar 21st 2011 8:42PM The problem here is not the government that needs to do something about unemployment within the black youth it's the managers, supervisors, pen pushers and corp heads that are keeping the black youth, males, and black people out of employment and it's getting worse. My son who's 17yrs-old has NO criminal record, high school senior and have been looking for parttime employment to help him enter into adulthood, but it has not been easy for him. Say you hiring ( but in unspoken words ) "not you". Because society as painted black youths especially males as something of a bad thing. But you know what Black people we are doing it to ourselves. How many black supervisors out there hiring people based solely on experience and not pre-judging. I find the main people that judge Black Youths are black adults. I'm a supervisor and I hire off experience and my staff is mixed. It would be nice and people stop judging solely off race, But I guess you would have to think like a logical ADULT to do that!

This is why we as black folks are getting pick off like flies...Because we dont have the courage to express "our" opinion and be comfortable with supporting something that comes from a Ethnic Grp. No do understand just because he is Black, I don't what you to support him, But he is not doing a negative movie about black folks. Contrary he is making movies that inspire and give a visual that black folks can be successful despite the hardship that are surrounding them. Don't get so complacent about supporting our people in a public forum if they are doing positive things for our community. If you want a movie out there to express your view, I expect you to get busy making one. If you can't then stop whining, he is not begging you to go see his movies. For those who go and see his movies are the ones that understand that he makes movies to uplift, provide insight, and provide laughter to the willing viewer. I'm in personnel as well, and Let me tell you this is not a "black" thing. From your statement let me tell you that you don't deserve that position to hire folks when you have the level of negative judgments against black folks. I will agreed that this young generation has a different view of professionalism. Because black, white, hispanics, and asians have walked into our bldg for a interview or just to fill out an application with hats on, piercing (nose, ears, lips, and tongues etc..), texting while waiting, and with family members. Let me tell you wearing hats is not a "black thing", and by your statement calling him a moron say more about you than it does about a man coming in for a interview. Maybe you should have told him to remove it. The way you choose to raise your children shouldn't enter the work place. I have problems with excessive perfume, makeup, but that's my problem, I can't hire folks on my personal judgment. If I do that I may miss out on a really good employee. I'm african american myself and hold everyone to a high standard and remind myself that everyone has flaws no matter the race. If we start a conversation with, "that lady or that man....instead of "that white or that black person", this nation of ours can move on from 1960.
So my challenge to you (doubting you have the courage) is to judge people by who they are and not the etnicity. You'll find yourself moving away from that narrow vision and seeing people as a whole.

But in response to the article, When I first saw him and he had that long hair I would say to myself, "damn he would be better to look at if he cut that damn hair". And you know what I was right!!! HeHE!

Feb 11th 2010 2:09AM Being a Black woman when I read the excerpts from another site my antenna went up. More so necause I find JM music beautiful. So I went onto Playboy site and read the interview in it's entirety.
NOW the choice of words he used were very disrespectful, but all he was saying that sexually he's not attracted the BF (only if they have white-girl behaviorism). If he would of just said that and avioded trying to be interesting on the matter we wouldn't be here. The hood pass statement...I TOTALLY GET, what he was saying is "WHAT IS A HOOD PASS", "CODE FOR N***A PASS" and it's not necessary to have that for blacks to like his music...that's why he said "WHAT IS BEING BLACK" his delivery was just awful.
I don't act BLACK I am a BF but it don't define me or my characteristics as a woman/human being.
So JM try thinking before you speak, because I feel your not necessarily out there to harm anyone.
