You're Over Him (Mostly). So Now What? {Lemondrop}

Nov 27th 2008 12:30PM I was so worried that you had stopped posting here because I hadn't seen a post in awhile. Also, (not to sound like a stalker or anything) but I keep getting an error when trying to access your personal blog site (the one that refers to an animal in a certain room). Maybe, it is my own computer telling me to stop checking for new post but in case it is bigger problem I wanted to let you know.

Carpool chic - What are you wearing to drop the kids at school? {ParentDish}

Sep 9th 2008 7:50AM It is lazy to make your kids ride the bus if you are a stay-at-home-mom. Why in the world be a stay at home mother if you are not willing to do MOM ACTIVITIES? I enjoy the extra time with my kids, hearing about their hopes for the day and then hearing the results on the ride home from school. And when it comes to "promoting independence", aren't our children being pushed to grow up at a younger age every year? I don't think my children will be suffering from a lack of knowing who they are as an independent person because I drive them to school.

As for what I wear for car-pool, I wear an outfit that is easy to throw on in the morning but still acceptable for public, in case, a situation arises where I have to leave the car. My outfit ALWAYS includes a bra! What is with these women who think going sans bra is perfectly acceptable?

Cell phone use during pregnancy may lead to badly behaved kids {ParentDish}

Jul 30th 2008 7:27PM I don't think using a cell while pregnant leads to damage. However, I typically drive with the cell phone on my lap but when I was pregnant I would not allow the cell to be that close to my belly...I think that placing a cell on your belly has a bigger risk than just using the cell. Might sound crazy but it made logical sense to me while I was pregnant.

Helicopter parents require their own camp counsellors {ParentDish}

Jul 28th 2008 3:02PM Granted some parents might go over board when sending their child away to summer camp. However, due to my own experience while away at a summer camp I can understand a parent not fully trusting a camp to allow an overly upset child to call home. I have severe asthma and although my mother was hesitant about sending me to camp, the staff had re-assured her time after time that they would keep an eye on me and would call her if need be. Cut to me having a massive asthma attack, begging the staff to either call my mom or take me to the hospital and being told "no, sorry we don't want a hospital visit on our camp record and you don't want to call and upset your mom". By the time I was FINALLY taken to the hospital I had less than 10% breathing capacity and was in the hospital for two days!

If a camp is going to reassure parents that their children will be cared for then the camp should meet those expectations. Why do they care if a child and/or parent would feel better if the child was allowed to call home daily? No one is going to tell me that my child is not allowed to call home, if he feels the need to call home then he better be allowed!

Jon and Kate - Are they good enough parents for TV? {ParentDish}

Jul 25th 2008 1:43PM I agree ARJ. That is the one episode that I cannot stand. The thought of ANY mother throwing a child's cuddle toy away because they couldn't handle a mess makes me sick to my stomach. As much as I love the show if she had thrown the blanket away I swore I would never watch another show. Also, instead of being thankful to the woman who was watching ALL of her children and happened to give them gum she was ANGRY and RUDE to her. She could have at least been a bit grateful for someone taking the time to watch her children.

Don't get me wrong I love the show and love Kate (sometimes) but if she had thrown out the cuddle toy I never could watch the same again.

ParentPicks: Toddler must-haves {ParentDish}

Jul 21st 2008 12:05PM We could not live without my son's radio-flyer wagon. I never thought
we would find so many ways to use it. The obvious one being for taking walks, but it also has served as a cargo van for trips to the pool, a picnic table when we are eating on the porch or are out for a picnic,a fort,a nap place when at the beach (the fold down seats make a great place to place a little one for a nap...obviously with some cushioning) and so on. I am so glad I splurged and got the "ultra high class" one. It has two fold down seats (hence the table part and nap place), a canopy, wheels that work for any off road adventure plus it "drives" like a dream. I will never get rid of it!
