She did not say that she now understands what it means to be Black, but her point was that from the uncomfortable stares she got from White people, (something Black people go through a lot) she could relate to that experience. It's common sense and I doubt this writer used his.

Nov 16th 2009 7:13PM Did you even notice that the cat-loving woman was talking about an EITHER - OR situation and she said she'd definitely let the human burn to death and save the cat. You just confirmed that there are a lot of your kind out there who love animals more than humans and like you, their excuse is that animals love unconditionally but maybe you are the problem because if you love unconditionally you are likely to get the same back and actually see the good in most people. It's possible to love animals WITHOUT putting them ahead of fellow humans and for goodness sakes, animals can survive and actually do very well without humans especially considering they were even here before us.

Nov 16th 2009 5:31PM I am anti-cruelty to humans, animals or any living thing but please someone, help me understand the mentality of humans who put the lives of animals ahead of those of those of fellow humans. A woman once told me if she had the choice of saving either a human or a cat from a burning house she would save the cat and let the human die and I was so shocked. I also noticed that she'd not be touched at all whenever pictures of suffering children was shown on tv but as soon as pictures of suffering animals was shown she'd get so emotional and try to help. No wonder some leave millions for their cats and leave nothing for their families. Beats all common sense but hey, it's a weird world.

Nov 16th 2009 4:25PM Nash has to live with her deformed face for the rest of her life thanks to humans who have no idea that wild animals are just that, wild so it was her decision and NOT Oprah's to unveil her face. Before she unveiled her face the audience was warned as to the graphic nature of her injuries so who are we to judge her and tell her she can't show her face ever again? She decides how she wants to live her life, in hiding or in the open and if we don't like it, we shouldn't look. I'm sure that explains the ratings for the show that day because some could not bear to look at her face. I'm also sure some chimp lover out there saw her and made a better decision to NEVER assume a chimp was a fellow human being and it's ok to love them from a distance.
