Ball-jointed Dolls and the Creepiest Dolls Ever {Lemondrop}
Apr 9th 2011 10:09AM I'd like to apologize on behalf of some of the more over-zealous collectors on here...
Yeah, to some people, my doll's a creepy little guy--- but I don't see him that way. As a hobby-geek-- man, almost no one spends $30-100 on eyes (the average going rate is $10-30). Only rare and limited edition eyes (like Antique Rose and Zoukeimuras) cost more than that.
Also, many people do face-ups themselves, have friends who do it for them, or don't pay more than $50 for one (unless it's a very well-known artist.) Companies now offer standard face-ups... which is how I got mine for a whopping $10.
Also, at the time of this article, the $600 price tag was the norm, but now, you can get BJDs for $200-400 (sometimes less, if you buy used.) Mine cost 198, and he's a tall "Super Dollfie" size boy. On average, I spent less on my doll than most parents spend on video games, American girl dolls, or dining out.
This article is good, but it needs to be updated ;)
Beautiful People Dating Site Cleanses Itself of 'Fatties' {Lemondrop}
Jan 5th 2010 8:03AM Don't insult retarded people.
They experience enough discrimination, and likely wouldn't come up with something so vile.
C'mon Barbie, Let's Go Party -- In Your Dungeon? {Asylum}
Jul 25th 2008 9:38PM Malibu Barbie shows more skin than this.
And all Barbies, except the ones snapped up by collectors, eventually end up naked in the toy box.
Obama and the End of Racism {News Bloggers}
Mar 26th 2008 7:48PM This is an amazing article. It literally woke me up with its clear explanation of complex realities. Racism is something I constantly think about, and I've grown up with. But I'm not black, I'm white, and this racism resulted directly from the rage described in this article. The suspicion of whites harboring covert racism was furthered among the non-whites in my community, and it lead to reverse racism. For the longest time I had trouble figuring out why my peers were so hateful towards “white people.” I read about what their non-white ancestors went through, and I would have understood their ancestors' hatred towards Caucasians. The hatred of their now-privileged children, however, is a different story. Affirmative action creates bitterness and resentment along with opportunities. It further divides the races even as it attempts to heal the divisive scars caused by earlier racist policies. Perhaps the problem is lack of honest discourse between the races, and a lack of social mingling. At least where I’m from, people seemed so intent on “paying back” for racial injustices and attacking the “covert white racism” predatorily hiding in the bushes that they forgot that, at the root of it all, we’re just people. And forcing hateful, divisive, isolating differentiation between people will only further “covert racism” and reverse racism.
This is a great article. I’m printing it out and saving it.
