At 20, i'd already been an incest survivor, rape victim, married and divorced single mother living in a Datsun 210 for two weeks with a baby.....we all experience different things at different levels and times in our lives. To let you know, i thrive in a loving marriage now, with four beautiful kids I'm proud of, approaching 40. Life is good.

Sep 14th 2010 7:04PM What a thought provoking article. Whether or not the idea's been done before, it's still a platform for release, support and potential change in anyone's life.

My one regret, at the threshold of 40, was having an Internet, turned physical, affair a few years ago. Irrerevecably hurting my ever-faithful husband and disappointing my children who were old enough to understand.

I will be buying this book...

I am a server.

I make $2.13 an hour.

I thoroughly enjoy getting to work with people for a living....however....

if you can't afford a 20% tip for standard service, or more for exceptional service (which I deliver each and every time), then stay home and make your own durn grilled chicken salad with ranch, peeps!

I clapped and 'whoo-hooed' over every point made in the Servers Strike Back article:

We're not stupid, don't talk down to us
Tip well
Keep your kids on short leashes
but there was one thing missing I felt impelled to include:

Us lowly servers have brains and use 'em; tell me EVERYTHING you need before I walk away from your table (extra bonus if you do this while ordering) ....don't keep me running for crackers, extra ranch, more bread, etc.

it's insulting AND time consuming -- can't you see the other 15 people I'm waiting on?
