PETA Asks Turkey, Texas, to Change Name to 'Tofurkey' {AOL Real Estate}

Nov 17th 2011 9:29PM The REALLY sad thing is, PETA has basically a good agenda. Ethical treatment of animals - what's not to like? Well... PETA. They're a laughingstock. Their expression is so extreme they actually HURT their case. Ever hang around someone who just goes totally off the deep end with an opinion and you just back away? You don't want to even be in the "blast radius" of something so flaky lest you wind up being associated with it? That's PETA. It MAKES folks say things like "People Eating Tasty Animals" because no normal, sensible person wants to be associated with them. If they were more moderate, PETA might actually get something done. As long as they throw catsup at people, though, they'll never be anything more than a self-destuctive sideshow.

How Old Is Too Old to Wear a Miniskirt? {Stylelist}

May 13th 2011 10:32PM I figure...
As long as you have pretty, sexy feet you can wear stilettos.
As long as you have great, well-shaped legs you can wear a miniskirt.
As long as you have good abs & hips, you can wear a bikini.
Now, I've seen TWENTY-somethings who should NOT be in a bikini!

Are Red Rover, Kick Ball and Freeze Tag Risky Summer Camp Business? {ParentDish}

Apr 19th 2011 9:10PM On the surface (and pretty deep down, actually) this seems asinine. HOWEVER, there is also a point in the legislation's favor: lawsuits. Our society has become such a cesspool of frivilous litigation that until enough folks stand up and say "enough!" and actually have the power to MAKE it enough, then every organization there is basically has to cover it's butt. People who trip & fall down, then sue the store; people who live on fast food and then sue McDonald's 'cos they're fat; people who smoke two packs a day and then sue Philip Morris 'cos they've got cancer; people who graduate college, can't get a job and sue the University; it goes on and on and on. Sure as the sun rises, some greedy parent will sue Summer Camp because their kid got emotionally traumatized from dodgeball.

iRenew Balance Bracelet Backs Off Health Claims, Group Says {WalletPop}

Feb 21st 2011 2:22AM There are those who lead. Those who control.
But the vast majority of people are simply cattle to be goaded, herded & manipulated. This sort of idiot product, and so many more (anyone old enough to remember the big vibrating belt machines?), attests to this.
Got scammed because you bought what you thought was a Miracle Cure? Moo!

The Evolution of Nicolas Cage: From 'Valley Girl' to 'Season of the Witch' {Moviefone Blog}

Jan 7th 2011 10:21PM That's IT? As funny as he is, so over-the-top, like a real James Tiberius Kirk with a litany of crazy roles, that's IT??!
I LOVE Nick Cage!! He's Hollywood Action.
That's why I bother.

How Much Is Too Much When It Comes to Homework? {ParentDish}

Dec 30th 2010 3:06AM I'm a retail manager, and I have a LOT of kids that work for me, every day.
The only thing they're "overwhelmed with " is connectivity; the God-accursed cell phone. If they could drop that and use social connections in their place, I bet things would be a lot easier.
But it won't happen, of course. The genie is out of the bottle, and it isn't going back in.

10 Reasons Why More Americans Are Quitting Their Jobs {AOL Jobs}

Dec 16th 2010 10:37PM Good reasons. I can feel some of them.
I had a job with a Fortune 500 company that I enjoyed so much I actually looked forward to Monday. And I was good at it.
But then things started to get silly. I UNDERSTAND that times are tough and you have to do more with less, but this company just screwed us all to the walls. And it was like STUPID stuff; create a series of projects to improve the Company. How will you better yourself this year. Well, my "project" is to dog-paddle fast enough to get the product out the door with the reduced tools you give me! I take my work seriously. I genuinely care. But it got to the point where no matter how energetic I was, it was not physically possible to do all the Company asked. My health was suffering, I was a nervous wreck. So I left - and went to a lower-paying job that wasn't going to kill me.
Not yet, anyway.

Makeover Diaries: A Beach Babe Turned Soccer Mom {Stylelist}

Dec 6th 2010 8:24PM I have mixed feelings on this. FIRST, viscerally, I tend to feel that naysayers are basically jealous. FIND a 45-year-old that looks like that (go ahead; enjoy the search). She's hot, plain and simple, and so if you can flaunt it than by all means - bring it!
But then, SECOND: I'm 52, been around the block a few times, and experience has told me that there's a time to give up the... Beach Life? Single Life? Every woman I've met who's sorta 'like that' is shallow, vain, selfish, vacant, and just plain a crappy partner. So I guess what I'm saying is there comes a time when you eventually need to focus less on being "hot" and instead being "accessible." Or "reliable." Or "mature." Being a PARTNER, not being something that looks great in the mirror.
I think scaling her look back doesn't make her any less attractive, but it may make her focus a little bit less on... herself. And that's probably a good thing.
