My First Christmas: Five Stupid Mistakes From a Personal Finance Blogger {WalletPop}
Dec 17th 2010 1:13PM Laura,
Welcome to Christmas. Your problems are the same ones I have experienced over and over again. After 56 years, you would think that I would have learned. Lucky you ... with your background, you are in a better position to correct your mistakes ! Merry Christmas !
Bride Sues Groom for Leaving Her at the Altar -- To the Tune of $95K {Lemondrop}
Dec 16th 2010 1:04PM Unless you are the daughter of royalty, why on earth do you need to spend that much money on a wedding? It seems to me that there are a whole lot of women that are more interested in a wedding than they are in being married ... which is what you are, once the wedding day is over. And for a whole lot longer. If you were really in love with the guy, a cigar band and a breakfast at McDonalds would be more than enough. Well, maybe not McD's, but you get my drift. I wonder how many women would even want to get married to that particular man, if they knew that there was no 'I'm Queen for a Day' song and dance involved. Believe me, when you find the right one, you won't be consumed with wedding lust. Just sayin' ...
'I Bad-mouthed My Mother-in-Law on a Blog -- Then She Found Out' {Lemondrop}
Aug 3rd 2010 3:02PM Sometimes you have to ask yourself, " Do I really want to fix this, or just exact some revenge?" The former repairs, the latter destroys. The direct ( and personal ) approach is always best. Public humiliation is a pretty tough one to get past.
'I Bad-mouthed My Mother-in-Law on a Blog -- Then She Found Out' {Lemondrop}
Aug 3rd 2010 1:29AM I would call your MIL's comments to you, about your daughter's nose and your housekeeping, mean-spirited and rude. However, if she were to have broadcast those comments to one and all over the internet, I would call that unforgivable ... no matter how good or valid she considered her excuses to do so. As a woman, I don't see how not dishing dirt on my MIL via the internet would be in any way, shape or form, an example of my voice being diminished. Being a woman doesn't excuse me from being a decent human being. And decent human beings don't publicly trash their mother-in-law ... or anybody else, for that matter.

Top 25 things vanishing from America: #9 -- Hand-written letters {WalletPop}
Jul 15th 2008 6:42PM What a shame. There is something so beautiful and personal about receiving a handwritten note. Just knowing that the person took the time to sit down and write means alot to me. I have letters from years ago, from loved ones who aren't here anymore, and those notes are a part of them that I will always have.
Cursive writing is like a fingerprint. No two people write alike, and I still get excited when I open the mailbox and recognize who the letter is from, just by looking at my name. I see penpal clubs in the future, whose sole purpose is to continue this 'old' practice. Hey, if I'm still around then, I just might join one.
The Knee Defender: Preventing Airplane Seats from Reclining {Gadling}
Jan 9th 2007 11:44PM If I had my way, the seats in the coach section would be permanently locked in an upright position. Plain and simple: there just isn't enough room for it. Nothing's worse than being behind somebody who reclines their seat the minute the seat belt sign goes off, and leaves it that way until it's time to land. It's like being in a cage ... very claustrophobic. If you want to sleep on a plane, bring one of those U-shaped pillows, and give the person behind you a break.
It's okay, Britney. We've done it too. {ParentDish}
