Sep 30th 2010 8:02AM Kudos to TechCrunch for pulling a classic bigot move: include the minority, set that person -- in this case, a panel -- up to fail, then when it does say, "SEE? It's not ME (or the industry), It's THEM." Stay classy Mark Arrington.

It was amazingly clear that Arrington and TechCrunch didn't care about the issue before. But the goal of this panel was mockery. Period.

Mar 3rd 2008 10:32AM Eh, I agree that naked pictures aren't "professional." But then my definition of professional means 'a straight-laced, line toe-er, who stifles emotions, and wears uncomfortable clothes for 8 hours a day.'

So maybe this isn't about 'professionalism' per se, but more about this crazy notion that 'sex(y)' and 'smart' or 'capable' can't exist in the same person.

It doesn't mean that sex is an unworthy topic that can't and shouldn't be discussed intelligently. But it does mean that most people (*raising hand*) still feel varying degrees of discomfort about sex(ual discussions) in public.

erm, because she's *is* a local (well, relatively speaking. she's from long island, just across the border from queens).

this is very smart. first of all, snapple is a new york product. it's been available there for 20+ years (and oh how i miss their tru root beer) before they went national.

wendy is also pretty recognizable to most of america. getting directions from her connects people to the brand and its history. and they get something in return: a local's guide to new york, and probably a free snapple.

Jul 6th 2006 10:25AM bullsh*t to anyone who thinks this isn't racist, or at least racially motivated. it was designed to provoke a visceral reaction. those women were carefully chosen for their contrasts.

it would be quite easy to have created a similar ad minus the deliberate attempts to provoke such a reaction: have the same woman do battle with herself dressed in a white outfit and a black outfit. in fact, i'd argue that's a better ad because how different is the white PSP from the black one, really?

Jun 15th 2006 5:01PM Hmmm, Rousaud is mad about being associated with a self-proclaimed hustler/drug-dealer who plead guilty to stabbing someone, a faux-thug who cracked a champagne bottle over someone's head and was tangentially involved in a club shoot-out, and a no-talent midget who frequents Atlanta strip clubs.

Sounds justified to me. Anti-trash. Anti-hip-hop. But not anti black. I doubt Cristal would have a problem with Oprah, Kenneth Chenault, Bob Johnson or Wynton Marsalis drinking their bub.

I love Jay-Z, but he's being an effin knucklehead on this. Shoot, I wouldn't want them uncouth bastids drinking my sh*t either.

NBA trying to attract female fans {AdJab}

Jun 9th 2006 4:04PM I think the licensed merchandise is a great idea... something I've wished for since junior high.

But I think the NBA is slightly misguided in its approach. If they want to attract women, do what they're doing with the WNBA: use sex appeal.

I have never, ever, *EVER* in life met a (heterosexual) female sports fan who didn't check out the players. And that's whether she's a stat-spewing, beer-drinking type or one who just watches the championships.

May 24th 2006 8:54AM I disagree with Dimon -- though slightly. I think that customizing form fields can *increase* usability in some cases.

I'm not sure if Dimon is referring to this example, but changing the focus color of a form field, particularly for users who navigate using the keyboard is a smart, unobtrusive customization, IMO.

Curved edges of a form field? Perhaps less so.
