Dollar General vs. Walmart--Price Comparisons on 10 Standard Grocery Items {WalletPop}
Jan 10th 2011 10:08PM I shop at Walmart and as one person mentioned you need to watch the experation dates at Dollar stores. Even at a grocery outlet store. I shop at a Dollar Tree for certain items but the rest I shop the Walmart department store in the town where I live. The Walmart here is a super store, I do very little shopping in the grocery section. I have found I can do better at Win Co for groceries, a warehouse type store without the membership. Don't much care for Costco.
SmackDown: Should Parents Give Gifts to Adult Children? {ParentDish}
Dec 5th 2010 11:09AM No matter what ages my children are they will continue to get gifts from dad and mom. My older son would be disappointed if there weren't something to open under the tree. I think he is the biggest kid of all even though he is fast approaching 40 give or take a couple of years. We surely can't disappoint the grands and the great grands. Love the idea of giving to my boys and their families. They look forward to Christmas Eve when we have our time with their families. We have a special dinner of homemade tamales. These aren't made by me but by a friend who owns a neighbor store.
Proven Bulk-Buying Strategies -- Savings Experiment {WalletPop}
Nov 4th 2010 10:07AM I had one time belong to Costco. I found I was paying more for the card than I was doing shopping. I would shop twice a year and I found that it was a waste of my time and one person stated some items were higher at a store such as Costco than they were in the grocery store. I now shop at Win Co prices are much better there all around. Win Co also beats Walmart Super Centers prices. I had shopped at Walmart for meat once and when I got it home it was starting to spoil. Walmart prices for groceries aren't that great. I shop the department area of the Super Center.
Teens Banned from Trick or Treating {Holidash News}
Oct 29th 2010 9:19AM I have not ever cared for Halloween most of the kids today are very rude. In the town where I live it is mostly the parents from the small communities that bring their children in to larger towns when they have already done their trick or treating in their communities. I feel this is greed, It is so much better just to go in the neighborhood where you live. Most schools today have Halloween gatherings and even churches have opened their doors to have what they call an Un Halloween party. I never allowed my kids to go out on Halloween until be moved to another area and that was against what I thought. They did this for a couple of years then that was over, thier choice. Most trick or treaters are very rude. I think they do this just so the parents could have their stash. The community I live in is mostly Hispanic and it seems these people will do anything for a hand out. Many people feel that Halloween has turned out to be beggers night. Here where I live the downtown area has a block party on Halloween. There is all kind of food booths and the downtown businesses give out candy. This town has found this more helpful than kids being out on the street. There is a two hour limit, Halloween starts at 5 and ends at 7. There is a whistle that will go off and trick or treaters should be off the street. Most schools also have parties so there is no limit of what children can do here.
Save Big: Spend Smart on Small Appliances -- Savings Experiment {WalletPop}
Oct 21st 2010 10:16AM I have most of these appliances. Just got a new toaster oven from Sears. They are the only ones who had the one I wanted. It is larger than my other one I had. Love my bread maker, use it often. Thought I needed a spacemaker coffee maker, couldn't find a cafe' for it. My husband found one so I saved me some cash there. Think he got it at Sears also. I am usually the one who shops the most but that day husband needed something from Sears, he is not one to browse gets what he wants and is out of there. Like all my small appliances. My electric can opener is not longer. I had a spacemaker but this time I will get a counter top one.
I Found Out He Was Cheating On Me -- So I Called the Other Woman {Lemondrop}
Oct 18th 2010 2:41PM I feel no sympathy for those who cheat. They think they have the right to do so if something is not right in their marriage. My husband decided after 41 years he was in love with an old girlfriend after finding her on a site that he went into. Well needless to say from what I gathered from some of the emails I read from him to her all he did was lie. He even told this person the rings she wore when they were engaged he threw off a brigde. Well needless to say this was a lie. I have worn those rings for almost 42 come November. I have had these rings mounted on a gold wedding band that had belong to one of my grandmother. The band is over 100 years old. This person was ready to leave her husband last year and get together with my husband, he got cold feet when this relationship went in that direction. He wanted to send me to visit relatives back East, where I am from, earlier this year so he could have this woman come down for a visit. Well needless to say God had a hand in that decision. Did go on that trip and that really made my husband tight jawed and problem this person also. These two people do not deserve respect from anybody. I have not ever thought doing something like this to my husband when he thought he was a married bachlor early in our marriage. I was to busy keeping up our young son at the time.
Dollar Tree stops playing music in its stores in order to save money {WalletPop}
Jul 9th 2010 9:05AM It doesn't make any difference to me if they play music or not. I go to shop not list to music, Most of the time the music is so loud I really don't enjoy my shopping. Dollar Tree is one of my favorite stores to shop. Just recently one came in to the town I live in. It is just down the street from where I live. There could be to much of a good thing also. Just down the street from where I live there are two others a mile apart. Maybe with not playing music they could get more personal in there stores to help stock the shelves instead of having boxes in the isles all the time. I have not ever seen more than two in most stores I have been in. Or if there is personal there they are somewhere else and not doing their jobs.
'Returnaholics' cost retailers billions of dollars a year {WalletPop}
May 25th 2010 10:03AM I keep my reciept in my wallet when I buy something in case I need to return the item. I very seldom do return items maybe 1 to 3 times a year. I will think twice before buying an item making sure it is what I want. I know many people are dishonest and will pick items without paying for them that is called shop lifting. They think they will not get caught. A few times I have mistakenly not paid for an item because when empting my cart I forgot the item at the bottom and didn't see it. When that has happened I will always go back and pay of it informing the cashier I had walked out without paying for the item which I didn't intend to happen. But down right taking an item and walking off and not paying for it is dishonest. If a person shop lifts then don't need the item in the first place. They don't understand that they will get caught one day. It seems that the shop lifters are the one that have the cash to pay for whatever they need. They will do this just to see if they can get away with it. They should think twice before taking any item out of a store because they will get caught.
Studies Show People Get Happier as They Age {AOL Health}
Apr 6th 2010 10:53AM I am very happy at the age I am at. I am pushing 70 and was glad to be at any age I was. I never tried to be any other age than what I was. I was blessed by God to be where I am at so why try to be anything else. I don't have any wrinkles and many people tell me I look younger than what I am. I thank them and go my merry way. I have have friends tell me that my husband looks older than me. He is almost 4 years younger than I am. I think it has a lot to do with the heart. If we have a young heart we will look young and when we have an old heart we will look old. That is what is what I have a young heart my husband has an old heart. He thinks old also. He turned 65 last year but looks much older. I feel God has given us life to live so we should live it and let not age stop us.
Sad Sandra Bullock Is Putting the Blame on Herself {PopEater}
Apr 1st 2010 8:46AM Sandra doesn't need to blame herself for what her husband did. Many husband do the same at any age. They chose to hurt their spouses and just think of themselves and nobody else. I do not feel sorry for any man who does this for he will be the one losing in the long run and a very lonely and alone person.
