Feb 8th 2010 3:03PM Hey Susie:

just because you copy and paste the same legal jargon in these comments over and over again, it doesn't make you morally right or legally correct.

When this guy was hired with tattoos, the terms of his employment were implied, meaning that he was deemed acceptable for employment decided not on the basis of his physical appearance or hygiene being detrimental to his work environment. So were other female employees with tattoos.

Starbucks gave him a legal ax to grind, so Starbucks should listen and compensate him accordingly. Seven years of servitude is a long time to be told that you're fired over tattoos that everyone else in his work environment has.

Tattoos are a form of free speech, and you are ignorant.

Feb 8th 2010 2:53PM So fly those unfriendly skies! We don't want to hear about how crappy your job is, when we already know it is!

Put the shoe on the other foot, suppose you were fired for not wearing make up, or for being too fat as an airline stewardess?

This isn't the Army where the demands of your job must be that you're physically fit, so do you see the difference?

What if you was your job Wanda, and they said your big ole behind don't fit with our image of non-ghetto airlines? How would you feel?!

Feb 8th 2010 2:48PM Paula, Starbucks knew they were making a choice to hire employees who have tattoos, which is a part of their appearance, permanently. While black skin is genetic, so is stupidity!

Bottom line: if you discriminate against black skin or inked skin, it's still discrimination and you've still broken the law!

Starbucks broke the law when they fired this guy for having tattoos when female workers have tattoos too!

Feb 8th 2010 2:41PM There's definitely a class of creativity that is more well-received at Little Five Points. The point is, if you require one employee to not have tattoos and your fire him, then you require it of everyone, and so Starbucks is discriminating and breaking the law in this case.

Feb 8th 2010 2:37PM Save us the trouble and have it put on your forehead, so we know to avoid you....LOL

Feb 8th 2010 2:35PM There's a line between hygiene and appearance, certainly. That's like walking into a Dunkin' Donuts and you want to say: "Here's some karmic love from me to you", and pass some really nice deodorant to the chick and say, "may you be provided with the attraction that your appearance so deserves!"
