Try This: Kids and Dating {ParentDish}
Mar 29th 2011 9:42AM 16 seemed right years ago- now it is probably more like 14. However, listening to the conversations of the kids today- is "dating" really still here? I thought that group outings (think pack style a la Jersey Shore....) and "friends with benefits" (no not sale coupons, dear) are what goes on now in middle school, high school and even in college. Dating now only comes when you finally get a real job- after hanging in the mall or in basements for way too long- and get the notion eventually into your head that life is not all a game. What, maybe about 28 if you are lucky these days....and I fear the vast masses over that age are still trying to figure it out....but hear comes the lecture - I know young people have heard this before, but MY generation was so much better than yours - at least we understood that love was a very sacred thing and a marriage that worked was the ultimate goal and also money was not to be blown every weekend either up your nose or wherever. Love and security...and children if you want make a life complete. You get one life guys and girls- just one. Live it wisely or lose it.

The Word 'Retard': Stop Using It {ParentDish}
Mar 6th 2011 3:52PM The word is not on my favorite list, but I do use retard and retarded now and again. Normally not as an insult but as a description....I was born back in the '50's and do not like the majority of the political correctness going on now unless it is used intentionally to put people down in a certain group (like calling someone who is not gay that word solely to insult them...) However, calling someone retarded is still very much like calling someone stupid, and I don't honestly believe people are doing so with the intent of maligning all retarded people the same was as those who use the word gay. In the end, I think this is overreacting to an issue by a select group that may be personally sensitive to that word being used at all. Sort of like the N word, but obviously not as heated and shameful. I don't think the word retard will be dropped from our vocabulary any time soon, sorry.

Perhaps the public sees her teaming up with Depp (another heart-throb) has a reminder of what happened to someone else's marriage that seemed OK until a movie was made....people don't forget when circumstances are comparable.

Aug 27th 2010 9:39AM Whether Tiger does well or not on the golf course frankly is irrelevant to anyone who has a moral compass. God works in mysterious ways, but man does not. His children will now have to live under this dark cloud he created for the rest of their lives, and there will always be a portion of society that will distain him. Am I being unfair? Well that demands I suppose on how much I value golf over principles.

Aug 19th 2010 8:27AM What is this big story about hypocrisy??? Doesn't Stewart get it yet???? Well, news flash - POLITICS IS ALL ABOUT HYPOCRISY!!!!! I am shocked that anyone is "scooping" this angle anymore because the American people are just collectively yawning at the next person/people in the arena who have just gotten revealed. This is like wondering why after 35 you can't seem to stop putting on the pounds....it is just the way it is (some things will never change).
