Mar 14th 2012 12:07PM Actually in Vienna a better hotel, and also a palace, is the hotel im Palast Schwarzenberg. The Coburgs were an extremely minor German princely family until they married into the British Royal family in the mid-1800s and also got ahold of Belgium, the Schwarzenbergs had the guy who beat Napoleon in charge of Austria's armies in 1814. So it is a bit flashier. Presumably that is why one would want to stay in a palace, though a private "zimmern" or room in someone's home might be more pleasant and much cheaper. And of course in Vienna is also the famous Sacher, home of the torte of the same name. Culinary royalty if not geneological.

Nov 2nd 2011 6:35PM Beavers are stupid animals who keep building their dams even if torn down. But they are not vicious predators like polar bears, who, despite being cute as cubs, are some of the meanest critters in nature. I would bet the esteemed Canadian senator would be the first to call animal control if not the Mounties if a polar bear not a beaver came snuffling around her cabin. There is already a national bird-the loon. It seems apropos enough.

Aug 8th 2011 2:06PM It is worth pointing out that at least a fourth of these"abandoned" churches are from places where a government had an atheistic bent or a losing side in a clash of nationalities, politics or cultures had its support base often forcibly removed. This even applies to England and Scotland, though not as dramatically as say Kossovo, Cyprus, Nicaragua, and Spain. So it was not always intentional, this "abandonment."

Mar 6th 2011 9:52AM The one comment is partly erroneous. The IRS will not mind if rounding off is consistent and to full dollar levels i.e. $6.42 is always $6.00 and $5.51 is always $6.00...or less i.e. both are rounded to $6.50 and $5.50 respectively.

Feb 28th 2011 12:46PM Morally speaking the only right they should have to recover money is the cost of a theatrical seat. The kid did not intend to resell the flick, he just intended to watch it. It was not his fault the distribution chain was so inept he could not get to see it at his residence/home area. And with triple damages that ought to max out at $32.00 tops.

Feb 13th 2011 1:32PM Mr. O'Reilly is entitled to his beliefs, his opinions, and to share them with others just as much as anyone else without them being mocked, derided, or Fox-treated in any way. :).
In this particular incident I support his position though not his explanation. If I wanted a theological discourse I would prefer it to be with a better-trained student of the subject.

Jan 24th 2011 8:14PM Hmmn. My name begins with "D" and I was on my collegiate Dean's List, and graduated it in effectively 8 quarters with a BA [one quarter I was so ill-6 of the 9 weeks- I could only salvage 3 credits from it-yes with a "d"-so does this prove or disprove this absurdist theorem?
In my experience the weirder names have the hardest times and most resentment from those who bear them. The optimal solution is called "Confirmation" when the individual in certain religions on reaching an age of reasoning gets to choose their own names-grin!

Jan 21st 2011 10:32AM This is not the first time the NFL and Toyota ahve had some miscommunication, A couple of years ago Toyota unveiled a gorgeous commercial and leased from the NFL Films' background music a tune they felt appropriately upbeat and 'tough'-sounding. Unfortunately they neglected to find out the name of the piece of music, which was the old sea chantey "What do you do with a drunken Sailor" :) So they wasted a lot of dough in that case too.
