Aug 9th 2011 9:19PM A better way to clean the microwave is to squeeze the juice of a lemon into a small bowl of water. Heat on high until it boils, and leave the door closed for a few minutes to let the steam do its work. The lemon juice cuts through just about anything on the inside of the microwave, and all it takes is wiping it out with a damp paper towel or two. It will smell good, too.
Jul 23rd 2011 8:51PM Your comment made me recall something I hadn't thought about in years. I'd give my son and a friend brushes and a couple of coffee cans of water and have them "paint" the concrete front porch. It turned a darker color when wet, of course, and they really thought that they were doing something!
Jun 20th 2011 3:40PM Some time ago, I took a solemn oath that I would not read or listen to anything about Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Tom Cruise, and Charlie Sheen. After looking at this article, I am now adding Heidi Montag to the list. I figure that if enough of us will ignore these people, they will eventually go away.
Apr 13th 2011 7:25PM Not long ago, I was standing behind a woman with two children in the checkout lane, and she didn't have enough left on her card to pay for everything in her basket. The checker removed from the total bill the items this woman wanted to leave out. Guess what--she gave back the vegetables and fruit and kept the frozen pizzas, two-liter bottles of soda, cookies, chips, etc. I know that we can't be the "police" and tell people what they can and can't eat and drink, but I do feel sorry for the children who live on junk.
Mar 22nd 2011 8:05AM I think that they uploaded his brain and forgot to return it before they flew back to Planet Zog.
Mar 1st 2011 5:50PM No one can get that obese without help. Who's supplying her with all of the food it takes to get to 700 lbs.? I hope that Dr. Oz can somehow change those who have enabled her. Unless they sign on, too, she will be back where she started even if she does lose weight.
Feb 4th 2011 3:48PM I don't know why anyone thought that Dallas in February would mean balmy weather suitable for outdoor activities. I have lived here for years, and it's always cold in the winter months. Last year we had record snow on February 12.
Jan 19th 2011 3:49PM You ask, don't these girls have mothers? That's only half of the problem. The other question is how many of the boys getting them pregnant have *fathers*? If what I have read is even remotely true, there is a huge lack of positive male role models in the community these young people live in. The greatest influence on any child is the same sex parent, mothers for the girls, fathers for the boys. And until and unless there's positive parenting for both sexes, the problem of teenage pregnancy will continue.
Jan 14th 2011 8:27PM "When I asked my mom why she decided to homeschool my brothers and I..." .........She didn't do a very good job teaching English grammar.
Jan 13th 2011 2:41PM "If the kid wanted to do it and they were the one who told their parent about it, then fine." ...............So if it's the child's idea, that protects them from peodphiles? I don't think so. My personal feeling about these pageants is that the parents should be charged with child endangerment.
