Police Use Pepper Spray to Subdue 8-Year-Old at School {ParentDish}
Apr 6th 2011 7:14PM Some years ago a child about that age who lived near me sprayed another child with charcoal lighter fluid, set her on fire and she died. Very young kids can be very dangerous and if the police on the spot believed non-lethal pepper spray was the right way to go I support their judgement, they were there. With this being the third time the police had to be called to deal with this child, for his own good and the good of the people around him, it seems obviously time to go beyond the "regular" ways of dealing with behavior problems and for the child welfare authorities to come in here to help the parents, they're too close to the situation and need guidance. --PL
Opinion: Sometimes, It's OK to Let Your Kid Be Bullied {ParentDish}
Oct 23rd 2010 2:32AM There's a difference in regular kid conflicts which the kids themselves can indeed resolve and bullying. Bullying is an evil and should ALWAYS have the guts stomped out of it when punk filth engages in it and abuses decent kids. --PL
Bill O'Reilly Fires Back at 'The View' Ladies [Video] {PopEater}
Oct 15th 2010 7:44PM Behar said O'Reilly is an idiot. That's about typical but walking off the set instead of listening to his point of view on a show named The View crossed the line. Barbara Walters would have done her own credibility well if she had fired Goldberg and Behar on the spot. --PL
Report: Nardelli almost sold Chrysler to U.S. for $1 {Autoblog}
Sep 11th 2010 12:49AM I think after his stint at Home Depot and then Chrysler the "Old Boys" would be wise to let Nardelli live well off the Golden Parachute money he's amassed and let other people run the companies. --PL
White Castle Looks to Grow Its Domain {Slashfood}
Sep 6th 2010 1:33PM Sounds interesting. I always like to try something new, even though the burgers will always be Castle's trademark claim to fame, I'll check out the noodles, etc. --PL
Confessions of a Bitter-Ender: In Praise of Movie End Credits {Moviefone Blog}
Aug 8th 2010 12:41PM Boy, this article was as endless as the endless movie credits it talked about. But as to its gist, the hell with some usher who wants the paying customer to hurry up and leave for her convenience. After we pay the high cost of a ticket, and the too high price for candy, etc., we have every RIGHT to watch the credits for whatever reason we care to do it. Here's a tip for that usher and her ilk, instead of bitching about customers watching the credits police the theater during the movie and make all those louts with the cell phones knock off playing with them (you know, flashing lights in the dark theater, talking on the phone). That way --think about this novel concept-- you will be doing a service for the decent movie-goers. --PL
The YMCA gets a makeover: Meet 'The Y' {WalletPop}
Jul 13th 2010 3:35PM It's true that YMCA is often abbreviated to The Y but I think something along the lines of what Coca-Cola does would be about right. They use both Coca-Cola and Coke as acceptable names for their product; YMCA and The Y should both be "real" names for it. PL
'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' Remake Pins Release Date {Horror Squad}
Jul 3rd 2010 10:05PM That is good advice for trimming costs and thanks for the suggestions. But I'm willing to pay for what I get and everybody sometimes wants a NIGHT out, I just want the experience I pay for to be enjoyable. Those flashing cell phones, etc. make getting our money's worth a problem. --PL
'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' Remake Pins Release Date {Horror Squad}
Jul 3rd 2010 7:47PM I used to love going to the movies at the theater and seeing them on the big screen, not so much now. For one thing the big screen isn't all that big any more, and as several people said the price has gotten way too high. Even with the little "big" screen and the high price I'd still go more often than the seldom that I do if the experience was enjoyable but it isn't. With the costs of admission and snacks it's easy to spend $25.00 or more per person and that's just way, way, way too much for the privilege of having louts flash their cell phones throughout the whole movie, put their stinking bare feet on the back of the seats, talk, allow their kids to misbehave, etc., etc., etc. Everybody who goes to the movie theater knows that laundry list and I consider the theaters to be stealing our money by allowing that stuff to go on. --PL
What Are the Summer Outfits You Hate Seeing Guys Wear? {Lemondrop}
Jul 2nd 2010 4:52PM I'm a guy and I'm not "guilty" of any of those things except I sometimes wear my hair kind of long. However, as long as it's not hurting anybody, like a man wearing flip-flops and a woman wearing business attire and sneakers, I take a live and let live attitude. --PL
